Test tomorow and exhaust goes pop, aaaggghhhh!!

I was riding down to Worthing today to practice for my bike test tomorrow. As I left Horsham going down the A24 I felt something hit my boot, I ignored it and carried on riding. Next thing I know about 4 miles later, my engine gets really loud, so I found somewhere to get off the dual carriageway and had a look. I couldn't see anything so I rung my dad, told him what had happened and that there was no exhaust coming out the end of the pipe. Get down to dad's, take off the fairing and there's a gaping big hole just after the exhaust outlet from the engine.

Dad got some exhaust bandage and some gun gum and we bandaged it up and then I decided to put gun gum all over it as a safety measure. I'm so glad it happened today instead of tomorrow, but its still really annoying, especially as I want to sell it soon, or p/x it.

Well I managed to do a few U turns this afternoon and got my emergency stops ok, just hope all goes well tomorrow. Wish me luck! And pray the bike doesn't explode!!!

same kind of thing happened to me, so i whipped out the old welder theres no way my exhaust is gonna come off now.

Pretty dodgy timing, but hope it all goes well tomorrow.

If you're looking to sell it soon, try ebay or a breakers for another exhaust. Shouldnt be too expensive.

I'm taking my test in Worthing, I just need a couple more U turns on my bike to be happy, and I think the exhaust will be fine.

Worthing, i did my test there, you should be fine, nice flat roads and clear junctions, one my test i can only remember two things that could be an arse is the exit from the test centre if you turn right as there is a ped crossing and a enterence to a garage. Also a roundabout in the worthing suburbs that can catch you out for lane disapline, Hopefully the examiner takes you up on the A27 so you can waste a few minutes.

Well after reading a few of the stories, i had to tell the group of my mishap. The day before my test i went round tesco extra carpark and practiced braking, turning, etc. etc on my Honda CG125. Now with the moves all perfected i was feeling confident about the test the next day. Came home, went to sleep and woke up at 8:30 to be ready for my test at 10:45. Got ready and went to the bike. Took the bike of the centre stand when suddenly i felt something snap and hit my shoe. On glancing down i saw the pin snapped in half. Now this pin is that pin which connects the centre stand to the spring and which make the centre stand jump back.
Went for the test after tieing the stand. Placed the bike. Went in. Met the examiner. Gave all my documents. Came out did the eye test. Went to the bike where the examiner saw the centre stand and refused to allow me to proceed with the test. Even after explaining the whole thing, nothing. Wasted my test monies and had to rebook the test......

Right all, sorry to dissappoint but I failed. I only had 3 minors but then I had 3 majors

One major for riding round a bus stop when I should've rode through it, one for not letting a car come through and another for something else.

But, I have learnt so hopefully it will be next time eh?

Not sure whether to do in crawley or worthing yet though, cos I do know Crawley better.

Anyway, I hope it will work out cheaper than doing training and the test. If it takes three tests then I will still be in profit instead of doing a day's training and the test.

I will let you all know how I do!

Take it in Crawley next, very easy to do (if you like roundabouts).

Gutted mate sorry to hear that, i failed mine first time and the second time round i found it lot easier, as in knowing what to expected. only got 2 minors!
Now you know what to do hopefully you will pass next time.
If you know crawley better i recon you go for it there, you will know the things that could trip you up.

Very unfortunate Craig . What was the examiner like? I believe that there's a website you can check to see the pass rates at the different test centres? I would think you chose a test centre near an area which you know pretty well so you can anticipate and predict road conditions. Second time around then eh?

Yea I was kind of worried though because my insurance runs out on thrusday and I wasn't sure if I could afford to insure the bike, and pay for the test etc.

Luckily, my dad wants me to pass my test and said he'd pay for the next one and mum said she'd lend me the money for the first installment on the insurance!

I must pass next time because I really want a bigger bike!

Me need an sv650s, mmm.

Well i had to retake the test and passed it. That was in June 2004. Now i am riding a GSF600 97 model which i bought in Dec 2004 after a jump from CG125. So next one would be a gsr600 or a baby blade. But lets see, with bike companies coming out with such delicious models let see what my next bike would be. But so far i am very happy with this one. Got a few modification made like a Micron can and downpipes, so i shall stick with it for some time now.[/code]
