clutchless shifting is the only way to change gear when you're on one wheel. Whip the clutch in when doing a wheelie and you're taking all power from the back wheel away and you'll come back down to earth quickly. Do that from a decent height and its good bye fork seals.
Try a google for clutchless shifting or wait about here for a proper post to come up. |

Jammy cunt, ive only got the lowly 1996 F3 FT
Bastid wont power wheely one up.
Any ideas how to remedy that? Im afraid the git aint making full power, but the only things i can think of, is one of the rubber seals at the carb is loose or theres other bits missing from restriction (cdi, jets etc). Anyone got any tips?
As for clutchless, easiest way to do it is to rest your foot under the pedal and push upwards with a little bit of force. Then when you back off the throttle it should slap straight in.
I can do it fine on two wheels, but on the one. Well ive apparently done it but i dont believe em. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Oh dont worry when its time for C+S
But i imagine it powerwheelied in first before you downgeared it?
Oh and only thing i like about it in this current gearing is... You can trundle along in first at 40, abit noisily (and guzzily but hell) and then whack it on the back tyre. At 40. Cant be shabby.
Do love cagers looks when you crack a wheelie out of a speed camera zone. Try it sometime, any 40mph limit is usually pretty straight. Just crack the front up on the clutch just after the last line. Beautiful |
Mine now powerwheelies at 6k revs 40~ mph in 2nd, all the way up to limiter in 2nd, and a few times have got it into 3rd and held it for a bit, usually have to put it down for a corner or if im weaving all over the place. Used to have to chop the throttle in 1st on standard gearing for it to come up, then go straight back down as i hit the limiter, now its downgeared it comes up really smoothly in 2nd rather than jolty and horrible in 1st. But in 2nd i dont have enough power to flip it and the power comes in a lot more smooth so think its less likely to flip in 2nd. Would deffo reccomend downgeared, i also waited for Chain and sprockets to be knackered, but i wouldnt wait too long, my old chain took half the engine with it when it snapped . Standard gearing on the hornet is 15/42 so i went 14/45 equiivilent of 2 down on the front, not sure if its the same for the CBR ____________________ is that it |

My RR power wheelies easier with someone on the back. The way it's weight is distributed makes it hard to power wheelie, which is good for fast starts.
Down gearing you bike is one solution, or you could bounce it up, or try getting in first and coming off the throttle and then cracking it open again - similar effect to bouncing it up.

I don't know about the rest but I got used to it. I first started with clutch wheelies on my zzr400, and then on the cbr600. It's just like most things on a bike, once you get used to it you don't get scared anymore. For example, before riding I used to say I never want to go over 100mph.... now I always go over 100mph on motorways. |
Agreed.
Gets abit worrying tho dont it? I used to bullshit about doing all the things i have done now and feel completely comfortable doing.
I mean on saturday (bearing in mind i am a good restrained rider these days but the dreaded suzuki curse had struck again, and i had to get a decent 10 minutes on the bike) i ended up racing a scooby impretza on the local dually. Was very surreal, anyway at about 120-130 ish, just after id overtaken him and was planning on overtaking this hatchback infront, someone had broken down in the left, and this hatchback decided to move to the right VERY early. Saw the indi's in good time, and since i was on the white line and only a bit infront of the scooby, only option i had was to undertake around him... at about 120 ish.... with about 2 foot between car and curb.
Anyhew my point was, i absolutely felt no fear whatsoever from doing that. Whereas i guarantee had i had a pillion on the back at the time.... well i might have had to clean the seat.
You just get used to it.
Also as a point, im happier wheelying at 40-60 ish, then 20. I dont like to much power. Slower you are going, the more power you can put down. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Ah Yams... you always find someting to ruin your bike with. First you crash it, then you drop a tv over it, and now you messed the chain up .
You know whenever I get on this forum I feel like going to the UK. You guys have lots of things to do with your bikes, lots of rideouts, trackdays etc.. ____________________ Kawasaki ZZR 400 | K5 GSX-R 600 |

I only accidently wheelied when I came over a bridge, put the power on to quick and got the front up, put it back down straight away. Haven't had the balls to actually try one yet. ____________________ Bikes owned: Aprilia RS 125 GP1 2003 (Now sold), Suzuki GSX-r600 1997 (streetfightered), https://www.bikepics.com/members/sychosis/
