Just wondering if anyone knows if there is adjustment other than the clutch cable for this bike. Ordinarily on normal bikes you can adjust the clutch pushrod (backing of the locking nut, finding the biting point and taking it back either a quarter or half a turn)
By the looks of it, the full clutch housing needs to come off anyway as there's no easy access.
before I take this off, does anyone know.

Thanks

I'm lazy today and you have full details of the bike, so go and have a look at the exploded views of the clutch cover and clutch for your exact bike, and post them.

However, you could post a picture of the clutch cover.

I assume the clutch cable engine end fits into a bracket bolted to the clutch cover that the cable adjuster passes thru.

A screw threaded section of the clutch cable with lock nuts, so the effective length of the cable outer can be adjusted, hence adjusting the "free play" of the Clutch cable.

Are there any slotted locknutted "studs" protruding out from the clutch cover close to the clutch cover clutch arm area ???

You know if the cable adjuster at the handle bar end ?

What problem are you having and when was the engine oil last changed.

Whilst you are researching the exploded views, is there a centrifugal oil filter in the end of the crankshaft, clutch side.

So pic of clutch cover and a link to correct exploded views....please.

Ps would you know how to turn off predictive text on an Alcatel internet phone please ?

when I was researching, I couldn't find anything but cable adjustment. A new complete clutch basket with new plates and springs can be purchased for about £34, but that to me isn't the point

I've never seen a bike with adjustment anywhere other than on the cable

If you have free play in your cable and the clutch is slipping in 4th and 5th, that indicates a worn clutch. You can't fix that with a cable adjustment.

Have you adjusted it as the manual (available online) says it should be adjusted?

How many miles has it done? Has this part come apart before?

Perhaps you should take the clutch apart and jave a look.

No, the bottom end adjuster is your main source of clutch cable adjustment on this bike; and the top end for "fine" adjustment only.

If you cannot adjust the cable to a satisfactory amount of free-play in this way then you need a new cable, simple as that.

IMO don't mess with the metal part that goes into the casing. You'll be taking the cover off and attempting to set it right if you do, and all for no good in this case.

If a new cable doesn't allow you a satisfactory amount of free play then I'd look further.

As above, don't take it apart if you don't have to, post the pics and exploded views for clarity...

If you take the clutch cover off you will need a new gasket, post pics and exploded views...

Think I've done it
Yes the bottom end adjuster was tightened up to the point where the clutch wasn't fully disengaging.
Slackened it off and readjusted the slack at the lever.

Much better

Thanks everyone for your input

As he's found, it's in the book.

What are you trying to achieve by adjusting it? If it's slipping or the lever is biting too late the cable is probably adjusted too tight. Put a bit of slack in it and see if it's better.

There's plenty of thread on those cable adjusters. You shouldn't need any more adjustment than that. If you max out those adjusters it means the cable is stretched too much and should be replaced.
