Dear Mister Korn

I am still having bad gateway issues.


Nobby and Ste helpfully talked me thru DNS recovery with the C prompt but it hasn't worked properly. I am still getting bad gateway fairies.

I am posting this from my phone, which seems to work ok (but I hate having to use the phone, too small screen, give auntie headaches.

My laptop runs windows10 but has an Italian OS which makes for confusing multilingual commands.

Plz help.

Side note:
I seriously think I need an IT guy, especially now that I am working with difficult patients. I need to get a grip of this so as to make best use of my time.

I sat down and started to write myself a list of "operational requirements and issues" regarding the ongoing financial growth and general stability of planet hellkat, but I can see I may be in dire need of independent technical advice. I shall have to engage the services of a chap who does.

Ok so I just worked out how to do that on my laptop but no idea how on the mobile (which is now also playing up a little bit, but thats less important).

Weird, just had the same issue. I worked out the cookie thing after incognito mode worked fine.

If people are having trouble and clearing cookies doesn't work then flushing the DNS is something else to try. Don't worry about what flushing the DNS means, all you need to know is that it's a possible solution.

Anyway...

Press windows key & R.
Type cmd then press ctrl+shift+enter.
It will ask if you want to allow Command Prompt to make changes to your computer, select yes.
Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and press enter.
Type "ipconfig /registerdns" and press enter.
Type "ipconfig /release" and press enter.
Type "ipconfig /renew" and press enter.
Type "netsh winsock reset" and press enter.
Restart your computer.

What DNS means....

bikechatforums.com is a domain name

The machines that work the Interwebs all have numbers (IP address)

The Domain Name Service finds out what name matches which number so you can get your web page. If your computer already thinks it knows the number it might not bother looking again and miss that things have changed and so might need a nudge.
