Hey guys,

I’ve just recently bought a 2010 Honda CBR 125 and am having a few issues with it and was hoping for some advice. When I first started it up, the bike turned over and started but spluttered a bit and cut out. It seems to cut out when there’s a bit of throttle. At first I thought this could be the fuel injection. But now after looking under the fuel tank and making sure all pipes were clear and not had any kinks in. The bike won’t even turn over and the FI light comes on. We’ve put a brand new battery in it and it seems to have already drained it a wee bit as the head light isn’t as bright as it was when we first installed it. I’ve read there could be an issue with the ignition wiring. Is there any sure fire way to pin point this? I don’t mind getting hands on and would prefer to tackle this ourselves before having to take it to a garage.

There is also a baby blue wire that’s lose on its own on the right side of the bike. Does anyone know where this could be for as I know for a fact the wire shouldn’t just be sat there.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Obviously there is fresh petrol in the tank, misfuelling with diesel is alarmingly common.
Ignition on and ignition kill switch set to ‘on’, can you hear the fuel pump prime? This will sound a bit buzzy and clicky for a second or two.
Did you charge the new battery?

Report back, mucker!

Hi there, thanks for the reply!

Yes definitly petrol in the tank,
Ignition definitly on,
This 125 model doesn’t seem to have a kill switch,
Yes can hear the pump prime for a couple seconds too,
Yes the battery is charged.

I’m going to take the spark plugs out today and check they aren’t dead, but I still get the feeling there’s something up with the electrics.

Thanks mate

The baby blue wire, do the indicators work ?

On a honda the indicator is light blue...BR, blue right. Orange left.

Get an exact correct wiring diagram.

Visit CMSNL for the exploded views, which can only help you....

Research a red neon plug cap or similar for HT testing/indication...

The CDI unit may have a black/white wire, which when earthed ( thru ignition switch and/or handlebar kill switch ) will kill ignition.

Get a wiring diagram for stand, clutch, neutral switches etc., you will need the diagram.....

Hi there,

Yes the indicators do work, head light works too but seems to be dimmer than it should be, I’ll download a electric diagram
Cheers
