Found myself in a fortunate situation where I have £5000 to spend on a bike. Stuck between a Gsxr 750 or a 1000cc Fireblade. Had a 919 blade a few years back now was quite awful around town jerky lumpy and not overly user friendly. Had a Gsxr 750 more recently and loved it user friendly around the town but also it loved being hammered on the A roads etc. My head says get another gixxer heart says that the Repsol Honda blade had been a lust of mine for a long long time. Would prefer the blade with the under seat exhaust as I prefer it than the stubby.

Any pros and cons you kind folk can offer ?
Cheers all.

I have a 2011 GSXR1000 going for around that price in 2 months... or sooner if needed. Shifty

I always found fireblades a little dull in terms of delivery, but then again, the GSXR1000 isn't exactly different, it delivers all the power all the time and its pretty linear, its damn quick though.

GSXR all the way. Hondas are fine but they totally lack personality.

As possibly one of the only grown-ups I know never to have taken 'snow' as I believed it's refered to, I had to research. £5k will buy you just 125g apparently. Take off a grand for a few 'scabby prostitute' outings and your left with 100g/4 oz - about a sweetie bag full.
Pretty dear stuff!

On balance I'd stick with the bike.

First you get the GXSR, then you get the power, then you get the women.
