I was haunting the "What have you recently bought?" thread, and I found myself staring yet again at Fisty's wrist.

But from a rather interesting perspective Shocked

That's funny, thinks me, I don't remember going onto a sexual fetish website ( hairy thighs and padded panties ).

Took me a while to work out what I was looking at.

Finally Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Covid, Brexit, BLM and the UnRoyals have all been wiped off the front pages ... and be replaced with :

Girl missing, copper being questioned works at American Embassy and has been previously nicked for flashing, "human remains" found.

Not such a great thing to replace it with, obvs.
But this could run and run.

Today I'm going with:
International espionage, slight matter of an accidental death of gladsome member of public, police marksman carries the can, due to disciplinary for being a willy-waver in McRonalds.

Ye gods! I sympathise. My wife borrowed a sack barrow to shift some of Nonna's things now she's gone to prison into a nursing home and the thing squeaked as bad as a mouse humping an angle grinder Shocked

Even now I can still catch my daughter out by using a word she has never heard before.

Today's word was "lackadaisical" - which I dropped into a conversation about the work processes of Italians Laughing

I'm surprised she's never heard it, as she has my fascination for dropping big words into conversations.
Never use a simple word when an obscure one will do.
But she is also accustomed to me using words in places where they don't quite fit, or making up a portmanteau on the spot, and then acting as though its a perfectly normal word.

Turns out, when we googled it, that I hadn't used it in quite the correct context, but she had pretty much guessed what I meant.

I have never met such an awesome bird as my daughter.
Except when I look in the mirror, of course Cool

Poundland are still doing little cans of 3-in-1 oil which would do a better job.

A few days ago my wife started rearranging the living room. "This armchair is going, the springs are fucked." Sometime later, "I don't like this, I preferred my armchair" ffs Rolling Eyes

Anyhoo, tearing open the base cover - it looks like the cheap plastic sheeting you'd use in the garden - one spring had snapped and the mount for another had come away. A replacement zig zag spring (with clips and nails) cost me a whole £3.17. I almost broke into a sweat hammering but fixed now Smile

I've used sunflower oil wiped on with a bit of kitchen towel in the past, cos it was all I had handy - Laughing
It works, but you have to clean it up now and again and reapply.

The vitara.

The rear brakes (drums) have been squealing like a Tory back bencher being pegged by a dominatrix. I was all set for a full strip and £££ of new parts.

Turns out they just needed cleaning and adjusting so I have some extra watch money now!

No, some of the door hinges in my house are currently squeaking a bit now again, so it's been on my mind to get around to sorting it. Probably will grab a can of WD40 from the shed this time though. Silly, would only take 2 minutes, but still haven't done it today. A couple of them are getting to really haunted house creaky door level.
