Always bought privately.

Waiting for my bike to be ready. It's coming up to two weeks on Saturday since I paid the deposit.

Is this normal?

When I bought my Street Triple, it was a few weeks for delivery. I had insisted on them doing the valve clearances and on new tyres, having turned up, looked in the showroom, taken a quick road test and bought it. But then again, I had another bike and a car so wasn't relying on quick delivery.
Otoh, they delivered on the date they said they would.

Talk of the devil, it's ready to pick up tomorrow.

Can't wait! Not ridden in 3 years since my GSXR 1000 got stolen. Will feel fast compared to all the walking I've been doing.

I guess the answer is...depends. If it goes through its 101 point check (LOL) and there's bits need picking up and doing, and it's an Aprilia, then how fast can you get the bits and get the work scheduled in. If it's for that sort of reason then hey, perfectly reasonable IMO, and I'd rather have it well gone over and well sorted before delivery.

If it's because they're just waiting for their bike courier to have another job in the same area as you to save a few quid I'd be pissed.

In covid times, probably.

I swapped bikes late last year and went with a dealer I found via eBay because they had the bike I wanted and offered me a decent price for what I wanted to P/X: I saw only the listing photograph's, and they hadn't even seen a photo of mine. Three weeks and a couple of chase calls latter it arrived in okay condition, but could have been worse for having not ever seen it.

Before that I'd purchased two bikes from the same place and always saw them in person (going via eBay this time because covid and travel restrictions).

I'd use the eBay dealer again, but not the one I used to visit in person: eBay dealer actually replaced the tank, tyres, rear discs and pads and a few other bits free of charge and the place I visited just sent the bike sold as seen (with "warrenty").

I sent the bike back to the eBay dealer for some work pre-agreed, and they fixed more than was on the list whilst it was there.

Moral of post: so long as it arrives having had work done to it and is in good nic then you know where to go next time you feel like bike shopping. Thumbs Up

Depends probably. When I got my VFR I had given them my old bike in p/ex and collected my new one within 3 hours of the test ride. Mr. Green

That's a given! I once rode a Skyjet and it vibrated my entire body into a new dimension.

Picked up my FZ1 today!

If I changed from my MT-09, an FZ1 is almost at the top of my list, loved my Fazer 8, so I'd definitely have an FZ1.
