So, for instance, B-roads from Mansfield to Mkt Rasen, or Mansfield to Horncastle - those kinds of directions.[/quote]
Gotcha.........yes it's a decent ride via Retford, Gainsborough to Willingham Woods, I don't bother stopping there, usually it's too busy, and the queue for food & drink can be long.
I like the ride from here to Market Harborough, via Melton Mowbray, when I go that way I usually end up at Foxton Locks, food & drink available there and it's scenic, but again it can get busy.
I sometimes take a ride to the coast (not to Skegness...oh no) via Newark, Metheringham, Woodhall Spa and Spilsby, it's a bit out in the sticks, but a nice ride.
I do venture in Derbyshire, out in the wilds, miles of countryside with a few villages that are not worth a mention, I avoid the places where the hoardes meet, Matlock and Bakewell for instance, I will not queue for overpriced fish & chips & rubbish coffee.
The Squires cafe (I used to deliver there) is another place I avoid, besides It's a rubbish ride from here.
I do alot of riding around the Retford, Gainsborough area, but I stick to the country roads mostly, some nice pubs (when they are open) Reindeer Inn at Sturton or Steeple, the Gate Inn at Clarborough, stop there, have a drink and eats. |
