I's soak it in a mix of paraffin and ATF as a penetrant. I'd probably put it in a jam jar full and leave it to sit.
Once it's moving freely, as Islander said, thoroughly de-grease then lube appropriately (silicone spray is good). Isopropyl alcohol would be a good de-greaser in this situation.
Another thing to consider is giving it a blast in an ultrasonic cleaner. Might rattle stuff loose.
I've seen some locks that have a small hole in the bottom you can get a fine punch into and tap the key out. Obviously this risks having both a key AND a snapped off punch stuck in your lock. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. Nope, definitely correct key(s).
I bought it about 20yrs ago but ended up not using it.
I put the key in the barrel so I didn't get it mixed up with all the other ignition locks I have.
The box is damaged & unreadable so might have got wet.
I don't think I bought a matching matching fuel cap or seat lock.
Anyway, its now working, finally.
After getting the key out, I left it soaking in atf/parrafin & finally got around to it over w/end.
It's now turning fine & steering locks working, which I think was the problem.
Cleaned it up with brake cleaner & it will now sit for another 20yrs beside all the other things that will "come in handy some day".
Thanks to all for the advice.
cheers,
GAZ
