How many everyday bikers have race cans on their bike, bearing in mind its not legal??

Me, thought about getting a road legal one but never got stopped the whole time I've had my race one on. Might have to buy a new can if I can't bash my current one back into place but it will be another race can no doubt Thumbs Up

bought my zxr750h2 with a race can on, passes mot's its not as noisey as some its a akroprovac system, quieter than microns etc.

Hi

Prefer not to have an illegal exhaust, but that said the Bandit has one (has a removeable baffle but runs badly with that in place). One of the Cagivas had an illegal exhaust for a while but managed to source an original one now (which is noisier than the illegal one Rolling Eyes

). The FZR, GPZ, Bimota and most of the 125s have standard silencers.

Happily used to use my TL1000R with race cans as an everyday bike and used my ZX6R with a race can before that also as an everyday bike. Smile

I've got an aftermarket exhaust, not necessarily a race can though.

When I go to meets, I'd agree with Keith, about 90% of sports bike have race cans.

Mate of mine just had a blue flame duel port evo put on his ZX6-r, that thing is mean.

Got a Remus Ti end can on the Thunderace.

it is maked "not for road use" but it's also relatively quiet compared to some I've heard.. and it's certainly no louder than some of the "phat pipes" that Mr Saxo, Mr Corsa and their baseballhatted brethren.

I think its less taboo for a bike to have a ridiculousley loud can. My gixxer to be honest with you is extremely loud - I don't start it anywhere near my house when I fire it up. Yet because its a perfomance machine and not a heap of shite I think its cool.

mine has a race can, and vertually everyone i know also has race cans fitted to their bikes, in comparison mine's extremely quite to the other bikes so I can get away with it Razz

Got a race can, use it everyday to commute my 2 miles to Uni.

I only REALLY use it to get heard to be honest. My next bike will have to be quieter as I learn to ride better. Wouldn't stick with a normal can though Laughing

I was having this same discussion with my mum the other day, she said that having a loud exhaust on a bike was just as gay as having a big exhaust on a 1.1 Corsa!
What I desperately tried to point out was that Chavs use big exhausts to make people think that their car is fast, whereas bikes have the speed to back it up.

So to add to your mums arguement, why do you need that noise when your bike is fast without the additional noise a race can gives you over a road legal exhaust? Razz

Aftermarket exhausts tend to help smooth out the power delivery and can if used in with new fuel map, dyno-jet etc increase power.

Mines got rid of a flat spot at 5500rpm and thats without the new fuel map Thumbs Up

Before I got my bike I put an exhaust system on my car and I seriously regret it now cause all it does is give me a headache on the M-Way Thumbs Down

And its a sort of 'privilage' thing, if you've got a fast bike, then you can reward yourself with a loud exhaust Very Happy

If you've got a slow car, then dont!

my ZZR600 has a scropion short full stainless system, quite loud

and l,ve got a pair of straight through (no baffles) short end cans for my KR-1S there not fitted at the moment because there are so loud they hurt my ears Twisted Evil
