|
|
It's easy to dwell on how a bike looks from the front - and we probably most of us tend to factor that into how well it looks generally, above other angles. Then side on - that matters too. But the back of the bike is obviously going to figure into its aesthetic appeal - but is often neglected, I reckon.
I have to say that, being a fan of symmetry, the four-into-two-into-one exhaust system that's dominated bikes' back ends for so long now, isn't something I ever really look at and think "phwooar". As such.
I suppose because symmetry is synonymous with balance, really - and of course, so much of biking is about balance. In any case, I like two pipes. Four's a bit showy. One's cock-eyed. So something like a Blackbird - understated booty - but suggests things could interesting quite promptly. With very little in the way of actual effort being expended.
Those Beneilli 900 Tornados are always fun to see, though. If you're behind one, you half expect the twin underseat turbines to start coughing out chunks of pheasant and rabbit that have been sucked into the airbox.
But I think my favourite might be an '06 to '10 Tuono - on Akros, igwos. Twin pipe, nice tail piece plastics, unobtrusive indicators, neat cover over the pillion seat. Exotically cast swingarm. Bit of a mudguard - enough to protect decency, but certainly not overdressed. All in all a good looking back end.
Just recently, these brackets that bolt onto the rear spindle or whatever is going on - the number plate held on with black plastic arms. Wtf. So many bikes look appalling as a result. I get why it happens - because new rules. Tyre must not extend beyond blah blah. Terrible look though. E.g. MT09, CB1000R et al. Yikes. ____________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent."

One of the reasons I wanted an S2r was because of the rear, admittedly this is its best side though
https://i.imgur.com/cS1L7ZB.jpg
The original R1 looked so thin, fragile and elegant compared to everything else at the time, the SRAD screamed 'race bike', both good calls.
What I don't get is the current trend of having a tiny seat unit that looks like it's already been hacked down, Suzuki Katana, CB1100r etc as I think that they look odd |

That is so so beautiful
I do love underseat exhausts on some bikes. My Street Triple, once I replaced the standard silencers, I thought was gorgeous.
Anyway, I give you my old 1500 Goldwing from many years ago. Who couldn't fall in love with a back end like that.

Where's the goldwing? All I can see is the back end of what looks like aussie road train. ____________________ trevor saxe-coburg-gotha:"Remember this simple rule - scooters are for men who like to feel the breeze on their huge, flapping cunt lips."

I like mine, would suit my OCD better if it were a twin. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.
