Motorcycle jeans and wind protection?

Sorry for a dumb question but I have never owned a motorcycle jeans before...

Question is do motorcycle jeans provide wind/cold/rain(to a degree) protection similar to motorcycle textile trousers, or are they pretty much same as normal denim? I’m mostly concerned with colder winds on days below 15C

Generally you get Kevlar jeans to have something that looks "normal" off the bike. Those don't so I don't see the point in compromising protection or functionality.

Wind and rain can be addressed with a cheap old set of Army goretex over trousers.

They are slightly warmer and more wind-proof than normal jeans because of the lining, but not much.

Fine throughout the UK summer if you carry some lightweight waterproofs with you as well.

If it's a bit cold riding home after dark, putting the waterproofs on over the top of my jeans and mesh jacket makes a hell of a difference.

Purely personal preference, but those ones you linked to look absolutely revolting. As wr6133 said, I wear jeans because I want them to look like jeans. Those look like something in between jodhpurs and a space suit.

Edit: it doesn't help that the model is standing like he has just pissed himself. Maybe he saw himself in the mirror?

I find them better than normal jeans for wind/cold protection but it's not a huge difference.

Bull-it sp120's are great by the way and not insanely priced like those. I just paid £80 for some with hip/ knee armour and nobody can tell they are bike jeans.

Seriously, as WR says, Kevlar jeans are good for looking pretty normal when you get off the bike and still have some protection but they won't compare with proper textiles and leathers for wind, rain and physical protection.

You could buy leather for the price urbanrider wants for those jeans. IMO, nothing beats leather for wind and cold protection.

Just been out in my new RST kevlar jeans and they are ok.
My hands were freezing, my legs were OK

Not as warm etc as leather, but just look like normal jeans, albeit thicker.

I have two pairs of RoadSkin jeans. Their "EasyRider" are the thinner more comfy version where the aramid is woven into the denim; I've happily sat in the office all day wearing these. No rain protection and limited wind protection, but that's kind of the point for warmer weather. Despite this, they're supposedly AA rated so in theory offer more protection than my "proper" textiles. Other pair are called "Paranoid"; these are fully lined rather than woven into the fabric. They're heavy, thick and very warm. I got caught out yesterday afternoon in the rain - it didn't go through them, although I think they're classified as water resistant rather than waterproof. They're pretty much windproof and the aramid lining is very thick, hence the warmth. They're rated AAA, so the same level as many leather race suits. Not sure I'd trust them to that degree, but I certainly have confidence they would give good protection in a spill.

The EasyRider ones are "normal" looking enough to pass as normal jeans.

Seriously , they are way over priced. They do the same jeans on eBay for £40 ...same photo too. I have a pair of Kevlar jeans with knee and hip protectors , fine for the summer but virtually no weather protection. Wind not much of a problem as I only wear them in the summer , and if I'm going somewhere where textiles are uncomfortable for walking etc.
