Piaggio MP3 500 Sport ABS electrically dead COVID storage

Hello,

My 2016 Piaggio MP3 500 Sport with ABS was parked in the garage and left for 15 months as we were stuck overseas behind COVID-19 travel restrictions.

No surprise - it’s deader than a do-do. Interestingly I cannot find a way to open the seat to get access to the battery compartment with a charger or new battery. The key won’t open the seat.

Any ideas at all of the best next step?

Alternatively how can I ENERGIZE this puppy so I can use the unlock button?

EEERR, press down on the seat when trying to turn the key or try other keys or drill the lock out.

This might help
Push the key further into the key hole.
While pushing the key turn it counter clockwise, the wrong way.
The seat should 'pop' open
