PostPosted: 17:00 - 06 Apr 2005    Post subject: Paint codes [HELP!] Reply with quote

Recently I aquired the right fairing panel and nose cone to fix my bike but they came in red/black. No good to me as I ride a Green/Purple Ninja (but they where durt cheap!)

How many different kinds of Kwak green are there or is there only 1? Also, I was on www.bike-paint.co.uk but they don't list the G1 models paint codes so I have no idea what the exact colour is for the purple section.

Can someone please help me out. I don't want to end up buying the wrong shade of paint! If you click on my web link there are pictures of my bike which will show you the colours I need.

Also, is there somewhere on the bike I can look for the codes or will it be in a Haynes manual?

Thanks in advance, if I get the codes I can get the paint tomorrow and it can get sprayed for the weekend!

So far I'm guessing that I'm after the Lime Green colour but I'm unsure if the purple section is 'Violet Blue' , 'Violet' or 'Pearl Purplish Black' ???? Stummped! Confused

Splash some black all over the bike and then it'd be like an art attack bike. Black and light green. Laughing Thumbs Up

No....really....do it all black. Would look real nice Very Happy

Nah, was thinking that but I might want to sell soon so I want it to look as original and as mint as possible. After it gets painted I'd only need some OE stickers to complete. I liked her the way she was.

If you look at the page, the code for the 1998 600 and the 1999 G2 have the same code for green "617"

I've kinda worked that part out but it's the purple I'm having trouble pinning down. Up close in sunlight it looks metallic purple. About 3/4 colours all look the same!

YES!! Haynes manual-tastic.....

Lime Green and Metallic Violet Royal are the colours I'm after. I take it most paint stores will be able to get me an exact match if I take a (broken) fairing panel into them?

The garage I went to said they could match my paint perfectly. They didn't.

Col, I'd be careful where you get the paint matched mate.

Halfrauds have an extensive colour chart range, for both bikes and cars, they look up the make and then the colour.

Worked for me with the NS, didn't realise there were so many bloody shades of white! Shocked

Another option would be to contact a kwak dealer, they'll definitely be able to put you in touch with a paint shop that does matching colours.

You might need a code and this is normally a combination of 2 letters then 4 numbers, well, in my experience anyway!

Good Luck mate Thumbs Up

Taking the old fairing panel with me to the paint store. I've got the factory code and paint code no. for the Green, only got the name for the purple section but I've got a fair idea of the paint code too.

Should have the right stuff today then all I need is a OE sticker kit for the R/H side! Very Happy
