Hello everyone! Smile

I am a 49y old amateur that have a Peugeot Speedfight 2 50cc, AC, 2004 model.
I have some questions i hope that you guys can help me with Smile

Variator

1. If I am going to change rollers in the variator, what weight should I use? I'm looking for decent acceleration, but it should also be strong when going uphill. And it may be appropriate to mention that I am 115kg Smile

2. I have heard that you can use rollers with different weights to get more properties. Is this right?

3. Is there anyone who uses sliders instead of, or combined with, rollers? Anyone have any views on this?

4. If I am able to hold the scooter with both feet on the ground when going full throttle, is it a sign that something is worn out? If so, what? Clutch / variator / variator weights / variator belt?
Or is it completely normal that one should be able to do that?

Carburetor and air filter

1. I was so damn tired of the original air filter; it would get loose from the intake on the carb and the scooter would stop.
That's why I bought a new one (https://imma.gr/103955x483eb). I've heard that you have to change carb nozzle if you use such air filters. Is this right? And if so, which nozzles? My carburetor has a 54 nozzle.

2. My carburetor has a set screw for both air/fuel mix and idle adjustment. Anyone know from experience how to adjust it in order for the scooter to run well?
And can one possibly avoid changing nozzles by adjusting the mixture instead, or is it not enough?

Appreciate if you have the time and effort to answer all my questions.

Thanks in advance, hehe Smile

If you can stop the scoot moving off with your feet on full revs summats wrong
so I'd guess either the rollers, drive belt or clutch is worn, maybe all, so get the spanners out
and have a look.
Heavier rollers will possibly take off quicker but will not give an ounce of extra power.
If you must throw money at it keep it standard is my advice

115KG or 18st+ in real money eh? I doubt any old 50cc scoot will ever feel lively carrying that load.
A 70KG 16 year old would probably think it was rocket powered for the first week then want 'moar powah'

Not being judgemental,its physics
power to weight ratio and all that
low power high weight doesn't suggest rapid
Personally I'd burn it, send to hell and at least get a 125 which even then will not
burn rubber but it wont screaming its ass off as you trundle down the street

Haha, no problem Very Happy
You are 100% correct Smile
But the strange thing is this; when my brother and I were finished with it 3-4 years ago, it actually ran waaay better than now.
Atleast enough "rocket" for ME to be happy Smile
But i don't understand why it runs worse and worse
(sorry for my broken english, it is not my native tongue Very Happy )

Your English is very good Haakon
Where do you live?

I'm wondering if you live a in a much warmer climate whether the
crank seals are perishing/leaking a bit

Just to restate a point
If you service it and get it back close to factory spec it will run well
within its obvious limitations and just as importantly, run longer
and generally more reliably.
Tuning tiny motors for more power usually has a negative effect on how long they last.

2 stroke are 'dirty'
silencers have been known to get clogged with oily soot.
Some caustic soda down the exhaust will help clear any clogging
there may be an off the shelf product that does the same job for all I know.

I am reminded of a young guy who turned up at a rally in the Midlands on an old Honda 50cc 2T dirt bike from Weymouth and it was
so knackered it would not pull away at full throttle.
It looked to us that the 200 miles of full throttle, screaming mile munching
just wore it out.

I'll jump on and ride anything me, no class see?
but I really don't like 50cc bikes 2 or 4 stroke.

I suppose there's some joy to be extracted by setting yourself a stupid limitation. Like a composer seeing what they can churn out in 15 mins.
