Hello hello

SWIM got flashed travelling at 65 in a 30 at 02:30 on a clear stretch through a common.

They have had their license for years. No point. No previous road traffic offences.

Likely a ban given 30mph+ over the limit.

However, what if they werent riding at all and some loon cloned their plate from some showplate website? Could this successfully be argued?

Not quite the same, but might help... we started to get several parking tickets on our Carisma from Ealing, all at times where neither of us (genuinely) had been anywhere near Ealing. The pics that came with it were of the same car, same colour, same plates.

I argued them all and said i'd provide evidence of mine and the missus locations at the time if needed, and that there were some very minor differences on the cloned car (stickers in windscreen for one) you could just about make out on their potato pics.

Told them if they saw it again to call the old bill and let them know there was a cloned car there. I'm pretty sure they (the cloners) got the reg from a gumtree ad that i think i forgot to blur the reg plate.

Never heard anything more about it.

Far be it from me to suggest adding say some stickers to your windscreen or something, as that'd be very naughty.... Tut Tut

Jail if caught.

That's food for thought as well.

If you try it, you better be good at it.

It surely wasn't me on the M1 the other week I swear Laughing just another 750 in rare cherry out of the 300 left Wink

I'd argue it if you could somehow prove your location to be elsewhere.

Internet acronym for "it's fucking obvious I'm talking about me but I think this will legally make it not about me if I get busted" aka Someone Who Isn't Me.

"Perverting the course of justice is an offence committed when a person prevents justice from being served on him/herself or on another party. In England and Wales it is a common law offence, carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Perverting the course of justice can be any of three acts:

Fabricating or disposing of evidence
Intimidating or threatening a witness or juror
Intimidating or threatening a judge
Also criminal are:

conspiring with another to pervert the course of justice, and
intending to pervert the course of justice"

Do you honestly think it's worth the risk?

Was someone I met.

Their bike was at a garage overnight for service/repair and can prove it.

Case closed.

You should be able to get a picture of the back of the offending vehicle.

I had access for every speeding ticket I've had for ther last 10 years.

Does it look like the back of your 'friends' bike? Thats your starting point

My worry would be they could dig out other images from ANPR cameras from that date and time tying it back to actual vehicle.

Yeah. Sounds likes legit plan.

Say the plates must have been cloned.

Yes they would. They will even send you a link to you so you can see the picture.

There is doing your best to avoid getting punished, and then there is perverting the course of justice. Even if there were no punishment for that, I'd still not bloody do it.

If you can't do the time etc... I think we've learned from international events recently that a lot of the justice system relies on peoples willingness to actually abide by it. Without that society would crumble.

Also, I think that events, circumstances, deeds catch up with people eventually, especially negative ones.
