I wouldn't mess with sprocket teeth ratios just yet...

As to running lean, possibly. A decat exhaust will be more free flowing but probably won't have much impact if the air intake isn't modified to match. If anything, given your reported mpg, it might be running a bit rich! TBH might be worth looking for a fuel leak. ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

I can easily get north of 50mpg on the XSR and they're not wildly dissimilar bikes.
As to revving it my other vehicle is a Skoda Shite-Triple (3-cyl diesel) and I have to rev the fuck out of it to do anything so no problems transitioning to a bike ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

I went out at the weekend on Sunday and done this route:
Departing Hamilton by M74 (S),
M74 (S) continuing to M8 (W) merge at J22,
M8 (W) continuing to J30 then joining A82 (W) via Erskine Bridge,
Due to road closure of A82, had to leave A82 by A812 exit,
A812 to B857 to A811 re-joining A82 (N),
Continuing A82 through Tarbet heading North towards Crianlarich,
Taking exit from A82 onto A85 (E) at Crianlarich,
Continuing on from A85 onto A84 at Lochearnhead,
Continued A84 through Callander and Doune until J10 of the M9,
Joined M9 (S) until merge with M80,
Continued M80 (S) until J4 taking M73 (S),
Continued M73 (S) until J1 taking M74 (S) until reaching Hamilton again.
My trip read as 157.3 miles and when I filled up to the top of the tank at the Jet garage on Bothwell Road again it took 12.09 litres to top off the tank: yielded 59.2 mpg.
So I guess I am an idiot and I think what I did to fuck up was I was running the tank down to the empty line but the empty line isn't empty and there's an uncertainty of measurement in the sensor or dial itself. I should have logged it properly.
On that route I tried hard to keep it at the speed limit and I only hooned it twice: once when some cunt in an Audi kept getting up my arse so I blasted to get away from him and the other time was when some guy in a Chubb van tried to cut me off from filtering infront of him at lights by moving his van into an angle closing the gap, it was at lights and he was in front so as soon as we moved off, the car in the right lane dropped back a bit and then I went into the left lane and just blasted past. ____________________ PRESENT: 2018 BMW S1000XR SE Sport.

Fuelly.com
It's kinda sad, but I can't help but fill it in every single time.. Looking back at the total cost of fuel filled up per vehicle is the most saddening.... ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Just checked mine over the last 110 miles, 62.1 mpg, so looks like you are right in the ball park |
