Hi all,

I'm sending my fork stanchions off to get serviced and chromed, and don't want to use Royal Mail on account of their size and weight.

What courier services can I access easily (drop off)?

Cheers
Phil

Most of the budget couriers (Hermes, Yodel etc.) you can drop off at the local corner shop. Just get it insured for the replacement value in case they lose them!

Philpot’s hard chromers in Luton do a collection and delivery service although I don’t know what it costs, I lived close enough to visit.

Stay away from Hermes. They're friggin useless. I've had multiple packages go missing, and when queried they tell me to speak to the person who sent the parcel. I sent the parcel.... One of them arrived 9 MONTHS late - not even kidding.

Herpes are cheap for a reason
They're fuckin useless and of all the couriers I've used they are the pits.
RM DPD DHL even Yodel find us no bother
During the last debacle waiting on fuckin Herpes, their website said it had been delivered at 5pm on a Thursday
It actually arrived the following Monday.
No explanations no apologies
Trying to get info on a package is a frustrating waste of time
The 'friendly local couriers' are a bunch of illiterate retards
I once had to read a label for one of them
it was clearly printed in English too,
(not an angry scrawl in green ink like my letters to the BBC)

UPS drop off. A proper courier with reasonably well paid drivers.

A lot of the couriers I use, DPD, etc pick up from my veyr house..

Useful when you're sending bulky parts like crt monitors and computers..

Definitely for phones. 2 out of the last 3 old mobiles I've sold on eBay have been stolen at their sorting depot, never any problems claiming on their insurance. Haven't had a problem with other items.
