This has been a lesson. Learn from it for gods sake, because lessons can come cheaper than this, but they can also be a lot more costly.
Glad you walked away at least. ____________________ Current - '94 VFR750FR, '00 VFR800FI Previous - '10 Street Triple R, '92 MZ ETZ301, '05 TTR250, NSR125R, KMX125, "Honda" Win (chinese copy of an old Honda design with a C90 engine)

Doing the work yourself, at home, should be fairly easy and will save you money.
If you decide to give it a go, then check in advance the thread direction of the rotor retaining bolt, as well as its size. You may have to buy a tool to hold it steady. I've got a really good strap wrench tool where the band is actually made of steel, but a cheap strap wrench will probably work fine. Likewise, you may need to make or buy a bolt to remove the rotor. There's a sort of tool you can buy which basically just a bolt, with a bolt inside it. You remove the rotor retaining bolt, then screw on the rotor-lifting tool, and then tighten down on the bolt inside it. This then lifts up the rotor.
The Haynes manual most likely explains a way to remove the rotor with rudimentary tools on that bike. But work out what you would need to do and if it's feasible, before making the jump and relieving the garage of your bike. |

Dude. Sorry to hear this - lessons learned etc. Go get that extra training we talked about before - it'll be worth the investment.
Anyway, tyres? Hang on, you just bought this from a dealer?
Oh, I spy you've done a fair few miles on it now.... As you were PS: Easily done. I thought tyres were getting low on the BM as I set off for Wales and.... by the time I came back..... Lo and behold! |

Sorry I only took one pic of the damage so I’m not sure if it will help at all:
https://imgur.com/a/9egfMX3
I can accept that the stator might be damaged because it mounts onto the cover itself but the rotor mounts to the engine side and I can’t see any marks, etc on the rotor in the picture on the underside of the rotor which might have made any contact with the ground. ____________________ PRESENT: 2018 BMW S1000XR SE Sport.
