A lot of farmers are still like they are in the books. Two recent farmer sayings:

When asked if it wouldn't be easier to move his cement mixer nearer to the thing he was building instead of wheelbarrowing the mixed cement all the way up the yard "Well, the great thing about being the boss is even when you're wrong, you're still right."

Another, on watching me squeeze through the small gap at the edge of a pen (common so people can get in and out but cows can't) "Look at it this way. If you don't fit through the gap, you could do with the walk round.".
