i'm about to go and purchase some... wanna get in the sun and corners.

what sliders should i go for, and how much?

i have buffalo leathers, with velcro pads on the knees.

Cheapest ones.

Doesn't matter what they look like/whether they spark or not.

Just get some you like the look of, I wouldn't spend more than a tenner.

There were free with a magazine, it's the rider, not the bike or the slider.

Thick plastic ones are probably best for starting out. Avoid the motrax teardrop ones though, heard they have a tendancy to come off.

i've got the tear drop ones and they are stuck one very well, it was extreamly difficult to remove them when i wanted to reposition them so i wasnt catching just the botom when i got it down.

ive gt the titanium rod ones in the motrax teardrop sliders, they are fine, but 25quid, however they looks lush in the dark!!

only bad thing is one of the rods has come free and gone off somewhere?? i think on a dodgy roundabout whenthe slider suddenly dug in Confused

I have plain old black plastic ones but wanted to get the smiley face wiz sparky ones but didn't end up going through with it I was too embarrased to ask for them Embarassed

I just wanted them for a photo honest! Wink

but I hears that you can get slides with copper oxide rods that give off green sparks! that would look cool with a green bike hey! Rolling Eyes

I got mine for free when i picked up my leathers from Hein Gerike. I crased with them on the right one took quite a beeting but stayed on.

My HG free ones are quite nice actually.

I wore away one side so much I had to turn it upside down, then sideways, I've worn away all 4 sides of my slider.

WHy is it that some people sliders (above ^^) wear away at the edges, and others (like blofly 636) wear away evenly across the whole slider?

its to do with how much you stick you leg out, if its stuck out a lot it will only wear on the edge, but if the knee is tucked in more and the bike is leaned over more, the slider will be more parallel with the bike so wear is the centre.
This is based only on theory as i haven't got my knee down yet

I use the old style Dainese plastic sliders as i prefer the 'solid' feel they give.I tried leather ones but they tend to 'grab' a bit at speed or after long slides as the heat builds up.
The way sliders go down tends to be down to both body position and where you position your foot on the peg.

I agree, I wear away the side of mine.

Where a friend of mine, on a gsx-r400 plants it completely flat on the ground.

I think it's to do with the seating position. (an XJ600 is very much sit up and beg) and the pegs touch down first. I think if you hang off less and lean more you can get it flat down. But on the XJ, the pegs touch down, so I have no option.

With my old leathers I used to get even wear across the whole of the slider but now with my newer ones I only get the edge. I put it down to the position of the slider patches which were moved when I had the trousers taken in.
