Test failed

well i failed A2 again yesterday, how pissed of am I!!? Thats £500 Ive spent on bike tests and training now, and I'm still a learner. Bearing in mind I'm a 17 year old who only works part time! But thats not the main reason I'm angry, i've been told I can ride at test standard easily so whats going on?
I failed for not taking over a lorry on a dual carriage way that was doing 50. The reason I didn't overtake was because it was so windy and I honestly didnt believe the yamaha sr125 had trhe grunt to do it because it was struggling on my way to the test centre. But what can you do? I'm just going to have to find another £110.

Unlucky mate.

Probably the reason you failed was because you must have been some way behind this lorry and ended up catching it up. What you should have done is not slowed down and stayed behind it but done the correct observations and kept your speed up and overtaken.

Sorry to hear that mate but don't lose faith. I failed my test 1st time round at the last corner. You'll get there eventually. I found that after my test I was so much more relaxed than I was during test conditons.

I paid £118 in all to pass my A2 test, £100 for 2 days training AND the test, on my own bike, and £18 for the theory , £500 seems a little much?

Tests cost more to sit at a weekend, do them during the week on your own bike and its cheaper.

My local training place insisted i needed at least 3 days training and wanted to charge me £350 for the training, bike hire and test.

Given that the test was £42 and the waiting time 2 weeks, i could practise on my own bike, sit my test, fail 6 times, pass on my 7th attempt and save money!

An hour a day for a week spent practising observations, and U turns and i passed first time with a single minor. Total cost: £42

Addmittedly this aproach wouldnt be suitable for everyone. but if you have your own bike i would suggest a single lesson with a training school, followed by a week or 2 of practising what they taught you. Then either your test or a second lesson depending how you feel.

unlucky, try booking your test independently and just sorting the bike hire through your riding instructor, explain you cant afford what they charge!! Chin up, sure you will be sorted for summer!

Not having a 125 to practice on I am only paying £300 for 3 days training, bike hire and including a test.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it?s worth.

If it were me..I would probably not have overtaken a lorry doing 50 on a dual carriageway, on a 125, in strong winds either....
maybe you were too close behind it, and so were showing that the bike had the ability and need to get past it ?
I would have sat further back.

I wonder if Instructors take a more guarded view when passing a 17 year old, versus...say..me, an older peeb. I was 31 when I took my test. It seems that a lot of older people pass first time, yes ?
Or maybe..no

Sorry to hear about failing your test
Last year I spent well over £1k learning to ride etc as I didn't have a 125 of my own. But now I am so glad I have passed!

I had exactly the same thing when I was 17 passed forth time believe it or not in London!!!! They are really tough on young riders! I actually got awarded a free retest due to failing me for a non valid reason!!!! I am now 21 and have ridden loads of bikes. Just stick with it m8 you'll get there the worst thing you can do is give up!

Hey mate, don't let it get you down! I failed four times!

I don't even think about what I spent as it I think it would scare me silly. In the end I went solo and passed. You'll probably find the examinors are not too bad, if you fail ask them any question you can while you back at the test centre. They will be able to give you the answers you need to pass, or well that's what I did.

You've got nothing to worry about now though, as soon as you can afford another test go for it!
