Lighting / equipment requirements for road use.

Having built myself a 50cc race bike, I am now considering putting it on the road.
I realise I need to get it inspected and pass a single vehicle test, but am a little confused as to what I legally need in the way of lights etc.
I THINK I can get away with just a rear reflector, and a squeezy type bulb horn.
I have no intention of riding it at night, so don't actually need lights, but do I need a brake light ? I also THINK that as a moped, it doesn't need a speedo.
Any one else gone down this route, or knows what is legally required ?

If you're confused about the lighting requirements, then the sum total of the requirements to pass the SVA are gonna blow your mind across 5 counties.

Whats the frame? Is there any chance it once had a V5 or reg associated with it?

Frame is home built, so no V5 or other documentation...

Numberplate lights and horn
then register it on a Q plate as an Itchyfanni fifty
(After the man from MVSA say yes of course)

What I don't get is why the SVA requires full lights, mirrors, side stand etc, but an MOT on a moped doesn't

OK - Thanks every one. Maybe I'll just leave it as a project bike. The fun I got was from building the frame and putting it all together. Demos and fun days only. Why is life so complicated...

It would be totally illegal to purchase a q-plate frame with a V5 that pre-dates the MSVA rules (and as such, has no record of what modifications were done to it), stamp the VIN number onto your frame then destroy the original frame.
