Kwak, purely because I've never been a real fan of Suzukis. I'd have to have a go on both to give an informed opinion though - looks wise, the Kwak wins.

Even the SRAD is a better bike than the the ZX7.

I would look at a Y model GSXR if you can; much better than the SRAD I believe.

The GSXR every time. The ZX7R went years without being upgraded, whereas the GSXR is always changing. I used to have a ZXR750 (predecessor to the ZX7R) and (although it's not really a fair comparison due to the age difference) my GSXR is ten times the bike the ZXR was.

ZX7 i would say. Both are cult bikes but i would say that the ZX7's always lived in the shadow of the Gixxer and it's still a very vesatile bike. It wouldn't be surprising to see any number of Uk Ninja 7's touring towards eastern olde/classical europe this summer. The Srad gixxer looks cool, but there's some unbenown beauty behind the Ninja which i cant pick out.

ZX7R's are heavy boats, I'm pretty sure they never went under 200kg dry. I know weight isnt everything because my 95 GSXR750 weighed 199kg dry, but that handled pretty well

SRAD's are total mingers looks wise, But if it was a 2000+ GSXR750 then thats another matter.... 166kg dry for the 2000 model gix, 179kg for the 1999 gix

I'd say the GSXR750 was the more advanced of the two.

I brought a zx7 mainly on looks and what i had heard on handling but, the gsxr is lighter and more powerfull.

theres no otherbike with a front end like the zx7r.
its sticks to the road like glue, and although a heavy bike it handles like a dream and is very confidence inspiring.

I took a ZX-7R out for a good ride last summer, then went and ended up buying a Gixxer750 SRAD after test riding it. Handling was twice as quick, felt much quicker if only lacking the low down grunt of the ZX-7R.

The plus point of the 7R is once you set it up for a corner it went round it like it was on rails, the GSXR can be a bit twitchy but you can tip it in so much quicker without having to plan each manouevre.

Looks wise, I pick the 7R, performance/handling wise the GSXR wins hands down. Also the 7R is horrendously uncomfortable, I was flat over the tank.

one of my old mates here in Bunbury had a 1998 ZX-7R it wasn't really great when he first had it but after spending some cash on it with aftermarket carbs, penske suspension, braided lines, muzzy full exhaust and a K&N air filter it absoulutely kaned along! I think the big difference was when the new carbs were fitted up, the bike instantly jumped into life above 4000RPM. When the new exhaust was fitted the carbs needed setting up and he decided to go for outright top end power the end result was a power delivery like a light switch above 7000RPM but below it was stale and choking at the end of the day the bike put out 137 Horsepower and powe wheelied in 3rd gear when the throttle was snapped open above 7500RPM but when compared to a standard GSX-R 750 it was a different bike altogether although in standard form I believe the GSX-R 750 is a well refined machine especially the 1999 SRAD and 2002 and 2004 models I only wish Kawasaki kept making the 750 oh thats right they just squeezed the engine down to 636cc while keeping the power output and shaved 40 odd kilograms off it!
