Well, its easy to be blarze (sp) about them when you walk away
Of the ones ive had, yes a good laugh, never done myself any harm, and only scratches etc. Never hit another car either. Not even clipped slightly when filtering (even when some cunt tried to squeeze me the other day when i was next to a truck... god bless em... i hope his mum dies of aids... cunt) ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

If you can stand up after and you are not hurt then you can laugh about it till you hear about someone else that did exactly what you just did and died,
Crashes are shit full stop! the thrill of biking is riding and not falling off, if the thrill of hurting yourself is something you like, well go and put yourself in a cannon and fire yourself at a wall!!!
yes you learn, but its all to easy how to learn how to lie down in a wooden box 6 ft under!

I hate crashing! I've crashed twice and totalled one bike in 35 yrs of riding. Luckily never broke any bones, but had one hell of a case of "racer's arthritis" after destroying the trunk (boot) lid and rear window on a Toyota Camry when the dufus pulled out in front of me. ____________________ Paul Elliot in San Jose, CA

Bloody hell, everyone's beating the bloke up over this thread!
I can understand where he's coming from though. I had an incident in my car about four years ago where I was overtaking a lorry in the middle lane of the M40 at 85mph when the bonnet fipped up and battered the windscreen! This was hard enough for it to fire the rear view mirror into the back seat! I couldn't see a fucking thing and I was covered in tiny shards of glass. Luckily the lorry driver saw what happened and he braked like fuck! I braked pretty hard, hoping that the cars behind were awake and that the traffic in front hadn't slowed, and drifted into the hard shoulder in front of the lorry.
Anyway, as I was standing surveying the damage (fucked bonnet and windscreen and dented roof - that'll be £1100 please) I remember thinking about the one positive aspect; how I coped. I now know how I would react in that kind of situation, and that is a plus. I'm not saying it was worth it, but it's not like I had a choice - I took something positive from a bad situation (and I always triple check the bastard bonnet is back down properly now ) |

Six months before my arm was almost back to normal was definately not worth it and most definately not fun. Fine the scar and the whole adventure gives me something to talk about, but it's not a part of biking which I am keen on in the slightest. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Ive only had 2 full on crashes. None of which were my fault...
Ok, the first 1. Me and my mate were racing. He was slightly ahead of me. (we were kind of running parallel)
He then performed a U turn RIGHT infront of me.
Doing 40mph in the wet, No chance of stoping. I hit the anchors and just skidded, Hit the side of his bike at about 30mph. THe impact pushed the bike into his left leg and his footpeg went through his leg.
Put him in a hospital bed for 5 weeks...
My bike went flying through the air, I was just infront of it. I hit the deck and slid a good 10 feet on my left shoulder.. Thanks to a good bike jacket my shoulder was saved. My bike wasnt so lucky.
Complete write off. I got new forks and replaced the whole front end and it was on the road after a few weeks.
Second crash. about 4 months later. I was doing 30mph down a road, approached a roundabout and some old bloke pulled out from my left! he collided with the side of me and drove OVER my bike...
Crushed the bike flat,
I went over the bonnet. And apart from sheer winding and a fucked left shoulder. I was ok.
This time the bike ended up at the scrapers.
Insurance gave me £3000 for the bike (£2000) My helmet and jacket (£500) and injuries (£500)...
I leared from both crashes...
But on the whole, Crashes are shit. Not even a bit funny...
*Oooh yes, Theres nothing better than hiting a bus at 50mph and writing off your bike*
Mmmm...
Nope, Dont like crashes... The small ones arent even good...
<|Ben|>
Oh, I forgot about the time I flipped my scooter. That was quite funny though as it was my own fault and I did deserve it! |

Personally, I love it! All that pain and expense, just can't get enough! Every time my bike is back on the road, I go out and bin it again, straight away! What's the point in having a bike if it's not in pieces, you're not in hospital, and you've got no good stories to tell?

Mr C's 180/190mph crash is the best crash story ever! But I'm sure he's not laughing having to get it fixed. Crashing is shit, £300+ to fix my bike which I've missed like hell for the last month, not good. ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Just a thought Binge:
If he was in front and slowed enough to do a U-turn, you probably could have seen that he was doing this and slowed down appropriately yourself before you caught up to him.
But it is very easy to not concentrate on such stuff I appreciate.
'The only way to find your bike's limits is to crash'
- Valentino Rossi, who I'm told is a fairly 'good' motorcycle rider .
That may not have been the exact quote, but you get the idea.
The important thing from crashing (even if it's not your fault) is to learn from it.
The majority of my bike crashes have cost me way under £100 to fix. I crashed my first bike; a cg125 a lot of times, over ten at least I'm sure.
I think this put me in good stead for riding faster bikes; I only ever crashed my zx6 while doing stunts / messing about. I did have many front and rear wheel slides that could have ended up nastily, but to some degree seem to have devolved some instincts for saving crashes... I have had 100mph front wheel slides that I have kicked out off.
Even when I crashed on track; mostly to do with setup of the bike; I learnt to check the bike decent before going out on track, even for stuff I wouldn't expect to be a problem.
While I don't particularly enjoy crashing, I don't see minor crashes as that bad a thing;
Plenty of people die from plenty of things.
I would rather die from pushing my bike on track than falling down the stairs, a truck crashing into my while I'm sitting on the motorway or Alzheimer's in old age.

Never really experienced that . Okay, I have watched some fairly shiny bikes going down the road, but I learnt my lesson and try not to buy shiny bikes these days .

I actually read that as WN did...
Jimmy crashed my bike yesterday - my MINT bike. My pride and joy. My baby. I had ridden her so carefully for over a year, never let anyone near her with anything remotely scratchy that could damage the paint work.
I could cry, I could get mad at Jimmy. At the end of the day, he is ok - he walked away, he was lucky - VERY lucky. The bike can be replaced, not for a while, simply can't afford it. Life can't be replaced.
Crashes aren't great, but there is no point in doing anything but laugh and take them as a lesson. I.e. That roundabout Jimmy was on is a) covered in oil and b) has a rather dodgy, deceptive cambre.
Oh, and never lend your baby to anyone, ever. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!
