….don’t know about the rest of you but I find it a struggle in cold/wet weather with steaming up glasses, often having to revert to cracking open the visor a tad to let enough airflow in to keep them demisted. However, I was given a little “Zeiss Anti-Fog Kit” which I think was around £8 and includes a little spray bottle and a cloth. I am blown away by the performance. OK so I’ve not been out riding yet but I can sit indoors with the visor down breathing heavily and no steam at all on the glasses.

Seriously impressed - time will tell on how long lasting it is (takes seconds to apply though) but even if it had to be applied before every ride it’d be worth it for good vision. Thumbs Up

This is the stuff:

Muc-Off do a similar one as well. Got the missus a couple of bottles when the pandemic started cos the combo of PPE and her glasses meant she couldn't see shit for her lenses fogging up. Never had an issue after using that.

Surely that’s Pal-Con Question

I’ve tried contacts and just find they dry out too easily. To the point of actually struggling to see which isn’t ideal….

You sit indoors with your helmet on. Laughing

Does your wife look at you funnily? Is she on the phone as soon as you leave the room? Do they have a nice secure padded room at your local hospital?

I was given a free sample of something called 'foggy wipes' a while back. They're about ~£4 each, last a good few weeks, and can be used loads of times on your specs whilst they're still 'active'.

They work really well.

We used to get a visitor who turned up with his helmet on. He wouldn't take it off until he got inside the flat, and then when he was leaving, he would put it on before he let us open the door.

Turns out he was a [some sort of religious person who wears white cotton pyjamas] and didn't want to be seen going in and out of a brothel. But it was in such a bugger of a place - last flat in a dead end street with parking spaces directly opposite - that if he was seen going up the stairs, he would likely also have been seen getting out of his car, so the helmet wasn't really that much of a disguise Laughing
(plus, there was the white baggy trousers and long white tunic, they're fairly noticeable under a motorcycle helmet Rolling Eyes )

Laughing

I usually only keep the visor cranked down a notch or two anyway, even in sleet (although that's not much fun, admittedly).

I just prefer to get a bit of fresh air in the lid.

Thanks for the tip. I just got some of the Zeiss stuff you mentioned. Pretty incredible. Did one lense as a test, then held glasses over saucepan of boiling water. One lense completely steamed, the other completely clear. Looking forward to a cold day to go out now, I'm totally confident it will work.

I’ll reserve judgement until someone tests the thing on a moving bike in the cold instead of on the sofa or in the kitchen.

Try licking the lenses and wiping clean with a soft tissue.

So I can give a real world report having ridden on Sunday in sub-zero temperatures (and in both the dark and daylight). It does work and very well too. When you breath heavily (and my lid doesn't have a breathguard) you sometimes get almost like a slight visible change for a fraction of a second, almost like a bit of mist appears very slightly then immediately disappears again, but it's nothing and visibility is unimpaired. No issue with headlights of oncoming vehicles either.

Yes it does work in the real world and is very effective. Thumbs Up

Tested Zeiss stuff today out in real world. Worked perfectly.
I would say it would need to be applied each day it's cold. The instructions say it'll last three days but I've tried breathing on the lenses the day after and a haze did develop. With a pinlock visor bad viz due to misting is solved!

Went out again yesterday - still working well from the initial application, but I keep a pair of glasses specifically for riding with (the arms work well with a helmet, but aren't great at holding the glasses on my head when I don't have a helmet on!).

I wear contacts for all longer rides. No fog, less glare, more comfort.
New helmet is flusher and it hurts my head too (I wear a tube so hair doesn't get stuck in the helmet, doesn't help).

I've also found a cloth in a sealed pack you can occasionally rub on the glasses and it keeps them fog free (it was meant for wearing masks but works with helmets too), bought it abroad though.
