Collections are all very nice, but you can only ride one at a time and unless you're an inveterate tinkerer (you admit you aren't) or have a bottomless pit of money for paid maintenance (clearly you don't) they end up being an ever tightening noose around your neck.
Ultimately, you will have favourites and the rest will end up being neglected to the point where you will be pouring money into them, just to keep them up to scratch, or you won't and they finish up gathering dust in the back of the shed, so you don't even get to enjoy them.
Be logical.
The big blade and the VFR could perform very similar duties; in the real world the VFR is probably as good, if not better than the blade in every respect, but the 1200 has the dual purpose of being a very competent tourer, so I would keep the Viffer.
The 600 is a nothing bike, any money you put into it was never coming back and you might as well cut your losses and bail now.
So it's a straight choice between which one you prefer to ride like an arse, the 250 or the 400.
I'm not a sports bike guy, but from what I hear a good nick 250 is a relatively rare thing and which ever you choose, with that and the VFR, you get two bikes that cover pretty much any type of road riding you want, plus a few quid in the bank, which was meant to be the goal of this thread. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

The upswing in price of 400's and 2 strokes has turned attention to the 250-4's, they've gone from a curiosity to a genuine option for a tiny sports bike.
Only ridden one once, a 250 Gull Arm a mate imported with an open can. Needed expensive spark plugs and battery to get running but made an absolutely unholy noise, wasn't particularly fast but the noise of taking it through to the limiter in the lower gears was intoxicating. Don't think I could have one as an only bike as they are a bit of a one trick horse but certainly worth experiencing. ____________________ Be a REAL MAN! |

I've narrowed it down to either the VFR or the 900 to sell. Keeping the VFR is probably the better choice. Selling the 900 would give me a decent wedge of cash to clear my feet. Would be quite sad to lose it, but needs must. If the VFR wasn't such good fun and if the Fireblade wasn't so uncomfortable then it would be easy, the VFR would go and I'd ride the 600/900 as a daily bike. Shame to keep any bike in a garage really. Don't really like having bikes as ornaments.
So is it VFR or 900 I should ditch? Going to put one of them up for sale later this evening. |

Odd. |
I think the ER6-F is a very meh bike in every department. I got it because it was cheap, available and recommended by many as a first big bike: not because I thought it was a beauty.
I'm just not really into older bikes is all. I think they look really dated and not in a nice way like even older bikes are. It's just a matter of preference and I prefer the look of modern naked and supersport bikes.
The two bikes I really like at the moment are the new Suzuki Katana and the Ducati Supersport and both are styled really differently from each other. |
Sacrilege In time you will come to appreciate carbed bikes. They are easy to work on, if your that way inclined, I'm not. There is something raw and assuring that is taken away by modern bikes with their modes this, there modes that. Fuck that. Even my VFR only has abs, nonthing else.
Anyway. I would like both the Katana( I loved the original) and the Supersport, like it better than the Panigale, especially in that pearl white colour. |

Sell the 600 or the 1200 because the others are all classics.
But there again, the 600 and the 1200 are probably the most usable day-to-day.
Bugger.
How about you sell a child/kidney/missus/your arse instead.
That's an easier decision.
OTOH, they are all Hondas and all Hondas are shite.
So torch them and claim on the insurance?
Hmmm... I've not been much help really, have I? ____________________ Suzuki Bandit 1250
