Ive been noticing recently that alot of the newer bikes all seem to have underseat exhausts (R1, 999, etc.) And i kinda wondered, because i know you all love your bigassed end cans and thier bigassed sound. Would you give that up to have an underseat exhaust?

I can't vote one way or the other. I've never owned a bike with an under seat exhaust. I can imagine that the under seat version would come off much better in a low side, but it's probably easier to modify a non-under-the-seat exhaust.

Only decent underseaters are the trend setting ducati's (748,916,996,998 etc) or the Mv agusta. The rest. I don't REALLY like.

To be honest, I much prefer exhausts like those on a firestorm or sp2. Very Happy One on each side.

I prefer twins on one side like the RS250, RGV etc. They look mean, but one on either side is very nice as well.

I like underseats when some thought has gone into them and they suit the bike.

I don't like bikes with a pointy arse with a big fat can sticking out like an afterthought. And I don't like when the link pipes go outside the swingarm, looks messy.

Not that I'm fussy or 'owt. Mr. Green

My personal favorites are the ducati 916 style and the old set up that the TL 1000R came out with, it was a pipe either side of the bike that came out of the engine area and kicked up and in towards the upper end of the bike Thumbs Up Moriwaki came up with the same design for a slip on pipe for my ZX-6R but I threw the add out and never could find the product again so I went with the standard set up in a micron can Very Happy

I agree. Most of the Jap bikes are trying to copy the 998's and look shite. It's just a sales gimmick.

depends on the bike! like you would not want an underseat exhaust on a hayabusa! but on a R1 it looks mean!

I would normally say Standard. But in the case of an R6 v an R1. I think the R1 with the underseat exhaust looks amazing. The new ZX6R one looks terrible in my opinion.

I love the RSVR and SP2 cans. Underseat cans make for a boring looking bike IMO

I've got a side-mount exhaust and I feel I could deal with the loss of some under seat space and the gain of some under-arse warmth for the sexiness that is an under seat pipe. Mostly just for aesthetic reasons, in all honesty.

I'd have to go with underseat as they do look more tidier and can be sext on the right bike (Ducati 999 Praying ).

Downside is that they don't leave much room for one's sarnies Razz

Standard for me - if you have underseat you can't change the can for something posy like a Yoshi or Akarapovic and have anyone be able to actually see it (apart from the last three inches).

[/pose mode]

Understeat exhausts roast everything in the back of your bike and you get less power.

Akraprovic are doing end cans now for their underseat exhausts, at least thats what I thought I read in mcn this week. Add about 4bhp.

Most race cans are smaller than the original can. Generally, the smaller the can the louder the sound.

I like the look of some underseat systems, but as many will know value for performance is what attracts me Smile.

Hi

Most underseat exhaust look fairly vile, and you also land up with the back of the bike shoved up in the air as though it has been rear ended.

Only ones that look good are the MV F4 and a few 2 strokes (Cagiva Freccia C9, reverse cylinder TZR250).

All the best

Keith

I like the underseat 'zorst on the '05 CBR6rr, that looks gorgeous.

Everything else is just transport.

J/k, I do like underseat exhausts, but only on that bike, other than that, it's a high level, side mount all the way.

If a bike is designed with an underseat can they look very cool, (Ducati's etc). But I don't like after market conversions. Personally I like to have a cannon on the side. Cool
