1987 KMX125 - Will not cold start

Hello all,

I am currently trying to revive my old KMX125 which hadn't run for a few years.
The problem I currently have is that it will not start when cold. With a squirt of Easystart, it will kick over pretty easily, and will then run happily on petrol. If i cut the engine and restart it it kicks over no problem. Only seems to be when trying to start from cold.

Carb was removed and cleaned up (was full of varnish). Float bowl is getting fuel into it.
Old plug was changed for new, the only difference being that the new one is iridium.

I have noticed on taking the plug out that it is wet.

Any guidance would be welcome.

What sort of choke does it have, manual or automatic? If the plug's wet after (failing) to start it maybe the mixture's too rich.

Also, is this fresh fuel? Old fuel loses the volatile components, Easy-Start is basically manually introduced volatiles.

Gah! Turns out it was old fuel. Drain tank and carb again completely, fresh load of unleaded and it cranked right over.

Lesson learnt...

When cleaning carbs etc., Start at the fuel filler cap !
