Which Baffler?

Hi,

Have a Ninja 300 with Leo Vince slip on without baffle. Sounds great but a bit too loud, which can be a nuisance to others. Also read that inserting a baffler helps with engine longevity.

Question
Is a universal baffler worth around £9 just as effective/reliable as Leo Vince own brand baffle (upwards of £40)?

Universal baffles will make it less shouty but I can make no promises on the effect they have on HP or fuelling. The cheapo one I keep in my toolbox for the race bike makes it rich as fuck low down. I would expect the baffle supplied by the exhaust manufacturer to be superior.

Pretty sure the mot manual refers to loudness compared to a typical example.of that vehicle as a fail, and not whether it has a.baffle or not.

Some generic baffles are OK, some are absolute cow plop. On that basis I personally would stump up for the legit one.

Putting a baffle in won't necessarily help the longevity of your engine, however, putting a loud exhaust on the bike without adjusting the fuelling might cause issues and can in extreme cases cause engine damage. Putting a baffle in to a can that has leaned off the mixture *might* go some way to correcting it - but that's not the same as a baffle making the engine last longer. It's an important distinction.
