so i took my bike out yesterday, for its first proper ride, since its MOT.
the back end felt really harsh over the bumps. tyre pressures were checked prior to ride.
when i got back, i checked the compression settings on my rear shock and found the screw had been wound all the way out.
set it back to recommended position and all was ok.
now the only other people who have had access to my bike, are the dealers i took it to for its MOT. the rest of the time, ive been on it, or its in the garage.
why the fook would an MOT tester do such a thing?

They are not supposed to alter anything on the test. Go and complain.

Did you do something to piss them off? Laughing Joking apart, if you're certain no-one else could have messed with it, I would ask then if they 'adjusted' it, and see what explanation you get.

If I was sure an MOT station had fucked with things on my bike they had no business touching then I would

1) never go back there and
2) indulge in a prolonged bout of naming and shaming.

What all do they test on a mot test. Is it just emissions? I’m in the states and only a couple states like California have vehicle test so I was just curious.

Emissions is the one thing not tested on a bike (they do cars).
It is mostly basic checks of lights, wheels and tyres, braking efficiency. They inspect frame and other stressed parts for signs of cracks or other weakness developing.

Seems unlikely that they would. Do you know for a fact it was originally on the recommended setting?

unfortunately no i dont. ive never touched it, only the preload.
although the fella i bought the bike off said he had left all the settings at stock and never played with them. i have no reason to doubt him, and i know the front forks were on stock settings and also the rear preload.

the difference in ride quality was noticeable as soon as i went over a bump. it felt like the tyre had been inflated way too high.
