Rough price for fork seal replacement (off bike)

Hi,

My GSXR's fork seals are leaking. I'm handy, but im worried about changing the seals myself because of compressing the seals and so I've taken them off to take to a garage.

How much is reasonable for them to charge for replacing the seals and refilling them? I'm guessing 2hrs work but im not sure and i dont want to be unfair on the amount of work needed.

£80/1 hour labour would be more than enough id imagine. its quite a quick job if you know what youre doing.

If you can get the old seal out in one piece (easy with a hook or screw) it can be used to drift the new one on.

Its a mugs game to replace the seal but not the bushes though.

Experience has also taught me to use OEM bushes wherever possible. I've had pattern ones be such a poor fit that the seals failed again in quite a short period of time.

Pay a man to do them. Cartridge forks are the work of the devil. I’m pretty handy but I won’t touch them beyond changing oil and springs.

firstly just wanted to thank everyone again for their comments.

dropped them off this morning, 1.5 hrs work - they'll check the bushes for me. I should have them back by the weekend which in itself makes it worth it as i can put the bike back togetehr rather than work on the frames.

again, just want to say thanks - i come here intermittently now as bikes are a much smaller part of my life than when i first did (i know, i know) but people here are always so kind, knowledgeable and giving its a blesssing

I've never had that issue. Once you get over the fact that you normally try and have mechanical sympathy and it simply needs a couple of hard belts to make it come apart it's simple.

Admittedly I've never done USD ones and I dread to think what cartridge shocks are.
