Welcome to the LC8 club, good to see the SAS has already been removed first thing l did when l got my 1190 was to get a delete kit from Rottweiler performance.
There a few 1190/1290 on the owners forum with over 200,000km on their bikes. Apart from a few electrical gremlins there solid fun bikes. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |

An overly elaborate suicide note Fun way to go though!
Seat height actually seems pretty reasonable although I'm sure I'd look like a pimple on a ball of cheese sat on one. ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

I like KTMs but why oh why must they always look like an 80's shell suit or a pair of trainers? Personally I prefer what
Husqvarna have done looks wise with their take on what is basically a KTM bike. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

It takes huge bollocks to own and ride these big LC8s. Not for pansies. ____________________

I've done things to it. The SAS, EVAP, exhaust valve and o2 sensors are gone and dongled etc. It already had a PC5 and a bastardised airbox, fixed that with a DNA box and two 80mm Rottweiler stacks. I've also removed the Akro muffler and replaced it with a car exhaust tip...oh the tunes!
Also stickers. ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

If the PC5 isn't the self learning type with wideband sensors, then you might want to get it tuned, to take advantage of the new setup.
After getting the RC8 mapped on BSD's rolling road, it became very smooth at low RPMs and they got a few more BHP and torques out of it.
I went back again to map it to the standard can as the noise was a bit much. Fun at first, but tedious on longer journeys, even with earplugs. That and no way it'd ever be allowed in most track days. I think it only lost 2 BHP with the standard can back on. ____________________

I've got it booked for middle of August for a dyno. Yeah, I thought the lack of a muffler might grate but it's all bass and doesn't bother me at all. I suspect bystanders and cars with open windows I hoon past might not be so sanguine though. ____________________ "There's the horizon! When I first fitted my open can, the SAS (air injection) was still fitted, and the random huge backfires were childishly appreciated by myself and other daft middle aged blokes, but women and dogs didn't dig it much. People were winding their windows up when I filtered by.
The thing was just too much in the end, even after repacking. The stock exhaust is 10kg, so about 5kg heavier that the open can. That was one of the main reasons, but you don't really notice it slung under the engine. Lithium battery shaved about 3kg off anyhow, so man maths says just have a big shit and buy a carbon fibre helmet before going out to make it even.
What do you make of the Michelin power 5 tyres? It doesn't take long to get through a rear on the RC8, and the front is due a change soon, so I'm looking at Michelins as the Road5 have been excellent on the CBR. ____________________
