Does GT85 rot plastics like WD40 does?

Is GT85 safe to use on plastics?
I can't find a definitive answer about this anywhere.

I wouldn't have expected either to have been particularly harmful to most plastic you'd find on a motorcycle in the short to medium term. Both would wash off with soapy water.

The notion might have come about because propellants such as butane are said to be incompatible with certain plastics, eg. butane and polycarbonate. However it’s doubtful that it reaches the surface for any length of time, if at all, and besides which the manufacturer would soon be hearing about it if their product was so poorly suited.

GT85 is Teflon-based. WD40 is not. That's the basic difference between the 2 products.

Whatever Teflon does, GT85 does.

I really like the smell of GT85, but I haven't bought it in about 8 years. Can't see any reason to put it on a bike. That isn't to say there's anything wrong with it, but it isn't a penetrating lube.

When we got power tools back from site covered in brick dust and what not I'd blow them off with an air line and
then wipe the bodies over with a little WD40 I'd sprayed on a rag to clean them up a bit for next use. Never hurt
the plastics or indeed rubber on some power tool handles.

I know that we don't like to talk about cars here but I have heard of the use of a light amount of WD40 use on plastic dashboards to reduce the effects of UV sun damage drying and making the plastic go brittle and crack. I assume that similar use of WD40 on plastic motorcycle parts is probably good for it rather than detrimental.
