Hey, I have recantly bought a new bike (Motorhispania RX50) and reading therough the user manual I am told to use semi-synthetic oil, but the previous owner was using fully synthetic oil.

Can you please tell me which oil to use.

Thank You Cool

I dont know, but iam pretty sure it doesnt matter, but if you wanna maintain the engine life, use the most expensive 2-stroke oil you can. I.E £6 - £7 a litre.
It really does make a difference.

Fully synth will give you more 'protection' from seizures, but on your 50 i doubt it will need it, you can run on the semi synthetic oil if you want.

Go for fully synthetic, as your only gonna use one bottle every 1000 miles or something, just make sure it is a decent brand name, castrol etc.

Dont get the stuff that says 'suitable for lawnmowers, disc cutters and mopeds' for £3!, otherwise youl be rebuilding your bike quicker than you can ring up to complain at them. Shocked

i would use fully synthetic in it.

perhaps the manual means semi as a minimum quality of oil (as in don't use mineral oil) ?

I'd always use the best, even use £11+ Castrol in my Minimoto.

Gotta be Putoline semi-synth. They only make bike oil, and it's class. Go for the "strawberry" one

My cash would be spent on silkolene or motul as far as brands go.
As for fully synthetic or semi, as it's a scoot a half decent semi would be fine like the makers suggest but as there is fully synthetic already in there i'd stick with that.

TTS, you dont get much better.
with strokers always use the best oil you can, that means full synthetic.
dont use synthetic in the gearbox though s it aint good for wet clutches.

But the decent brand is called "QuiKsilver" Wink

Since I started using TTS, my engine warms up a lot quicker and it is smoother. The engine doesn't sound like it is about to break nowadays. Smile

PDF pages on the differences between oils.

Quote:
Four new Rotax 503 two-cylinder fancooled
engines were purchased and
utilized since it is one of the most popular
engines in this market. Each engine used
a premix oiling system instead of the oil
injection option. The engines were fueled
with premium unleaded gasoline that was
mixed with the test oils at the engine manufacturer’s
recommended ratio of 50:1

I always thought using full synthetic would be best, but i was told using semi-synthetic on my DTR125 would be better as the engine is not as tuned as the NSR's and MITTO's and has been designed for semi.

I allways used Morris 2 stroke oil for injector systems. Used to cost about £25 for 4 litres.
Great quality stuff, most of what morris made is what goes into car's and bikes at the dealership, or is sold to people like castrol, rebranded and sold on at twice the price!
