^I genuinely don't get why our police want to be a laughing stock.
Anyway some cnut keeps parking in the motorcycle parking... me There's a corner of the carpark which occasionally has bikes in, next to it a parking bay which today had two scooters in which I thought was a bit odd.
Came back to the car and realised the sign (which tbf is in the corner) that I've always read as 'motorcycle parking' actually says 'motorcycle parking bay'. In my defense I'm not the only one who does it but still... |

The carbs on UK ZX6Rs were supposedly warmed by the radiator fluid although the tubes are narrow, there’s an in-line filter inside which can get blocked, and I don’t know to what extent the hot coolant is piped within the carb body.
Some Suzukis had electrical heat.
I do use Silkolene Pro-FST and it is mostly iso-propanol plus some surfactants. It’s more readily available than neat iso-propanol AFAIK. I think you can buy iso-propanol on-line but it may contain water, and shipping of flammable fluids is likely to get the post office in a flap. I could ‘borrow’ it from work but it’s not worth the risk of sacking.
Since, as I said, carb-icing often catches me unawares I end up chucking some additive in after the event and it’s wasted. In my experience it’s rare to get carb-icing conditions two days in a row. |
Solution: Yamaha!

Long-ish stretch of roadworks on the A600 north of Hitchin, both ends stuck on red. Gridlocked. |

Two incidents on my ride back home from Wales yesterday, both involving filtering.
1) Busy roundabout near Chester, queuing traffic all around it (traffic light controlled), start filtering through as it's a massive roundabout and I can see the queue is continuing beyond and up the road I'm going on. Some utter w*nker decides he's not happy about this and pulls his car over to block me. Fortunately his lack of general spatial awareness meant at this point he was almost touching the car in front (so couldn't move across any more) but hadn't completely closed the gap, so I managed to squeeze past. As I did, he was leaning on his horn and shouting "queue like the rest of us!" or something. If he didn't have his (passive and embarrassed looking) wife in the passenger seat (he was in the outside lane) I'd have been tempted to retort but I figured it'd be unfair on his wife to have me shaking a fist through the window, so I just left him fuming away behind me.
2) Second incident occurred on the M56. This wasn't anyone in particular's fault, but an unfortunate combination of events. A bad accident, miles of stationary traffic but within roadworks with very narrow lanes, almost impossible to filter through with my wide handlebars. I did get through slowly, but it was stop start as I had to wait for people to wake up and try and make room for me and even then it was millimetres of clearance quite often. This quickly became hard and hot work in 20 odd degree heat with a very hot V4 beneath me (which also sounded very unhappy given the constant radiator fan action).
Got home safely though and I guess that's the main thing, just a bit grinding along the way. ____________________ TG. |
