They are avoiding noticing that businesses using even modest amounts of gas and electricity such as pubs and restaurant are getting new contract quotes which come in at £100s per day - they will simply have to close in droves as nearly all the takings would go on energy bills before thinking about trivial items like paying staff or buying in produce.

Wifie has a friend who is a buyer for Homebase. She reckons they will be closing stores in droves as they wont be able to afford to heat them come winter.

Ah sorry, that's overly pessimistic. Bills will go down... in the 2030s when the new nuclear plants come online.

Hello? BBC? The '80s called, CND want their rhetoric back.

It completely misses the key advantage of nuclear in that it does produce physical waste. The "emissions" (for the most part) can be picked up, transported, buried or whatever. Try and do that with the emissions from a natural gas turbine Rolling Eyes
