I took my little Enfield Meteor out for a spin this morning, and was surprised by the number of what appeared to be organised groups. I got as far as the end of the High Street of my small West Oxfordshire village and had to wait while a group of 8 or so passed along the main Abingdon Road. Several had passed before I realised they were all riding Royal Enfields, but none of them seemed to notice me sitting on an RE waiting for them to pass. They all had green (I think) vests with numbers on the back. They all looked very serious.

About a minute later and half a mile down the road, I had to wait while a long stream of modern Triumph riders crossed my path. Most of them managed to nod or wave.

I covered about 75 miles and saw several more groups, but none as organised at the two I saw in the village. I've ridden in groups with the Harley Riders Club, but at least we were having fun, some of the people I saw today looked to be taking things far too seriously to be enjoying themselves.

They would have been from the Overland event at Hill End, you could book rest rides on RE Himalayans or Scrams and a number of different Triumphs over the weekend

That would make sense - I'd never head of Hill End, but searching shows it is at Farmoor, I route I have often used coming back from Oxford. Also rode on a couple of Rides of Respect out of Abingdon that came by there (and though the village I live in).
