Apart from the piston being knackered I spotted one other serious issue with this which makes it virtually worthless.

Why do people sell such junk?

Pray tell. There may be a crack in the outer of the water casing but you wouldn't know if it is unless you try it.

I was referring to the crack in the water jacket.

Why would you pay £60 for something that needs the same spending again for a rebore, and possibly has a coolant leak that *might* be fixable by welding.

Are these things that hard to get these days?

I'm not convinced its a crack.look at pic 5. There's a definite gap between the two bits of 'crack' on the machined face and no evidence of it on the inside wall.

It's got an obvious crack in the water jacket right across the gasket face. That, I would suggest, means it's fucked.

It’s fixable but it’s not like these are super rare. Not as common as they were 15-20 years ago but I’d wager finding one less fucked than that wouldn’t be too hard.
