Its something you really need to be able to do yourself, its almost as bad as getting your mechanic to check your oil maybe not quite, but if you plan on haveing a bike in future its worth learning to do the "little things"
A padock stand can be got for £30 easyly, adjusting the chain is not difficult once you have done it a couple of times, if in doubt get a knowlageable friend to help out, ALLWAYS have the propper tools, its worth getting them if you dont have them, much better in the long run... ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Just to demonstrate how little knowledge I have, I had a look at my dad's bike and found the adjusters fine but on mine? No such luck
Could anyone tell me where they are if this pic helps at all...
Thanks for the info about paddock stands, I saw one for £16 but it was a New Year's deal which I thought was weird.
I'll have to ask my dad about the rotherham place. I know someone who will... probably have one.
Thanks. ____________________ The tiger who came for a pint |

Hi
Ah, RS50 (or AF1 50).
To adjust the chain find the small (~5mm) hole near the centre of the wheel. You put a bar through this into a matching hole in the bit in the swinging arm (you should be able to see if you look carfully), but it will only fit one way (ie, one rotation of the wheel).
Then slacken those 2 allen key bolts. Push the bike forward a touch and the wheel rotates the eccentric mount in the swinging arm so pulling the wheel back slightly. Check the chain tension and repeat until correct. Then tighten those 2 allen key bolts and remove the bar you used to lock the wheel to the eccentric. Then check the tension as you move the bike forward (problem of this system is that it is virtually impossible to adjust the tension at the tightest point).
All the best
