Get it booked onto a dyno asap. You should have done this earlier mate.

They'll give you a print out, showing that it's 15bhp or so (which I hope it is) Ring around. If the 1st place you phone don't have a dyno, ask them where the closest one is.

Tell them you have no proof, it was bought as a standard bike and you haven't tampered with it, they don't come with a certificate.

Don't then shoot off and go straight up to 70mph on the dual carriageway like it is no effort. Remember a 12bhp bike starts running out of pull at 60mph then crawls a bit faster really slowly.

That seems like a wholly unecessary waste of money and a risks blowing up the bikes engine. Do they ask people on other 125s for a dyno certificate because I have never heard of it?

I was under the impression that every standard RS125 in this country is sold as a 12bhp bike anyway. If it goes above that it is through having it 'tuned' which would be a matter for the police not a driving examiner.

Regardless of what it's sold as, if the examiner wants proof then he'll be needing proof. But yes, I see your point and agree. Just how many people do you know with 15bhp rs125's. Thinking

This law actually come into play between the time I failed my first test and took my second one, I was NOT a happy bunny when I got turned away because I didnt have any documents, I wasnt even informed it had changed.
I got the garage I bought it from to write me up a letter saying it was restricted (It wasnt Smile ), That was enough. Had to rebook, Which they did for free after I kicked up shit and I passed on my derestricted RS125 Wink

https://www.dsa.gov.uk/Category.asp?cat=116

Makes no mention of needing any restriction certificate.

Your speedo is telling you lies mate, no way you will be getting 98mph out of 12bhp without about 15 gears and a powerband so narrow that the bike is unuseable.

its not knackered its just fully restricted, no powervalve, no modded cdi etc. if sum1 rode it really hard ya cud prob get an extra 10-20mph out of it but bein a 2 stroke i dont wanna push it 2 hard and have it blow up on me.

trust, if you got 98 out of an rs it wasn't restricted. it will have at least a powervalve fitted. ( am i right in thinking that the rs has restrictors in the bit where the exhaust joins the engine, in the carbs & reeds or is the guy at work talkin shite?)

The DSA started cracking down on bikes that had no proof that they're restricted a few years ago. Most restricted bikes have something about the power on the VIN plate.

Although you don't need any proof, the test is meant to be taken on a bike that can do a certain speed, but is under a certain power, so if you can't proove you bike fits this criteria they might get stroppy. Depends on the place, so phone them up.

I fear you are all over-complicating this far too much.

Just write RESTRICTED on the side in big red letters, that'll show 'em Very Happy

he is right with aprilias you do have to prove its restricted. No training centres around here would let me use my aprilia to take lessons on unless i had the proof. And there was a letter in the test centre from the dsa saying about sprilias not being allowed without the necessary documents. you may be shit out of luck mate, could you hire a bike?

i cant belive the examiner even has the right to ask you to prove your RS125 is restricted. Id tell him you dont have proof, and ask where it states that RS125 owners have to have this proof of restriction? Why dont they ask every 125 owner if thier bike is restricted then? Even the 4stroke ones, as i woulnt expect most large bike riding examiners to know anything about de-restricting 2stroke 125's or even that they can be de-restricted. I mean alot of learners dont even know about how and if their 125's can be de-restricted, and some couldnt care less either way, and buy a bike for the looks not because they know they can double its power output easily. And anyway why would the examiner ever even suspect that your bike was not restricted anyway?

well he cud suspect for the simple reason that 99% of the rs125 that i no have had it de-restricted.

i didnt realise that soem examiners asked for proof as it doesnt say on the dsa website and when i booked my test ova the phone, no-one told me about it and they even asked if i was taking the test on my own bike.

It makes sense to ask, They only ask for proof on the sports 2t 125's. Any other bike they wont bother because they know it cannot be derestricted.

ALOT of RS125/Mito etc owners have thier bikes derestricted and riding on a CBT licence (I know I did), So it makes sense to stop peeps taking thier test on an illegal bike
