Hi,

Bike was fine until 1 week after its last service.

Now on start up after being left on middle choke for 2 mins.

I turn the accelerator and it stalls.

To cut a long story, I have to drive for 1st quarter of a mile, slipping the clutch and reving it (ie not letting it idle).

If it does stall, it will start again.

Also the bike is a bit harder to start now, before I used to be able to start the bike with the choke fully out, now it only seems to start on the middle position.

Any ideas??

I don't realy mind the hassle, but was planning to take my test on it (Suppose if it had a good run before it would be fine).

Cheers.

Check the exhaust, is it popping or is there black smoke coming out?

Pop the plug and chack the colour as well, see if it looks glazed or covered in black soot.

How long do you run it on the choke? perhaps youve carboned up the plug,

Sounds like the mixture is screwed up, check the colour of the plug electrode.

Its not a 2 stroke.

So won't be a mixture thing.

Going to check spark plug out this lunch time.

Cheers

Oh yes it will, it has a carburettor, therefore it has a fuel air mixture ratio. If this is set too rich or too lean, it will affect the running of the bike.

If the fuel:air mix is set wrong for tickover (as controlled by the position of a screw on the side of the carburettor) your bike will keep stalling and require funny choke settings to start.
