https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=38116&highlight=er5+remus 3rd post.
Bros is a good, quality, reliable bike, but like msot people on 33bhp, you'll get fed up. Thats whats good and bad with the 500's. You can derestrict so you won't be bored with the bike. But then again, it's illegal and you'll always be tempted to do it, whereas with the bros you won't have that temptation.
Er5, gs500 parts are dirt cheap. |

I'd guess it would hit 100. Cruise at 80 comfortably I'd imagine.
My 33bhp er5 would just tap on 100mph so I'd guess it would be the same. It will be close to that figure though |

Well, I'll be honest. It all depends on what you want from them.
For a commuting bike, they're right up there, good mpg, well behaved in slow speed situations, reasonably good handling, and nimble enough, despite their "large weight". I dropped mine the other day (forgot about sidestand ahem...) and it was pretty damn easy to lift back up. Only scratched, not dented the bar end. Nothing else.
Mine can top out at 118mph (indicated) but I'm 20 now and to be honest. I want something a little quicker. All in all, I don't NEED a faster, quicker, bigger cc bike. But I want one. It sort of leaves you pining for more. It'll do 0-60mph at a very good speed. And will continue up to 100, 110 a bit later. Can be very quick when it wants to be and with this exhaust, it sounds superb
Parts are really quite cheap and common on ebay, working on it isn't difficult at all, tyres can be had for £75 rear, £60 front and servicing on them is cheap. Everything is good. Thats why they've done well here, even better in germany (for reasons I don't know). Just I'm pining for something with a little more oomph now. That's all.
It's just my impatience. Cheap insurance too
For the 0-60 video, click here and find the download. Its only 3.14mb. The bike is quicker than this, the road was wet and the rear was wiggling about for traction since I was riding on the join of two different sections of tarmac. I do intentionally back off at the end by the way Just iin case you were thinking "bloody hell, does the power die just like that??) |

mirax, i've just got a 400 bros ready for when i pass my test, and the guy told me there pretty quick, and they do sound good, even with standard exhaust on it, it sounds meaty lol. i like them, comsumable parts ( pads, chains etc) are easy to get hold of, bodywork etc maybe not so but have seen stuff on ebay for it, and there will be breakers with some parts. I got the bros cos it was a veery good price (£275) and need a new battery and carbs de-gunking, so a bargain. Its a bit small for big guys tho, so bear that in mind, i'm 6ft 1" so we'll have see how i get on lol. ____________________ LOOK AT DAT M8 WELL LUSH A PARROT INT IT |

I know the feeling. When I first reg'd on here before getting a bike, everyone was on about swingarms and I felt like a fool not having a clue what they were on about
They're the handlebars. Afaik, 'clipons' are the term for the individual style bars mostly seen on sportsbikes, as opposed to the more traditional style bars where it's all one piece. ____________________ Hard livin', hard luck. |
