I'd get a quote from a Yamaha service point for how much it would be to get a new red key and use that price to leverage a better deal ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

To be fair, webuyanyoldshit is almost always the last resort when selling any sort of vehicle, if i knew a bike was sourced as such, i'd steer clear | in fairness autotrader is always over the odds on prices...
But for this kind of bike about 4 grand seems normal. But yes 3700 is on the cheap side which is why ive been looking at it. |
I suppose that is the issue here, personally i would never look at buying the cheapest insert bike here on the market, i would always be looking for something in the mid range, as the cheapest is almost always the cheapest for a reason,
Luckily you have found that reason, it's just wether having zero service history is worth the few hundred quid saving, as really you should be getting it serviced ASAP if the history is totally unknown, and without knowing the service intervals, that could easily be over £300 if its a major service ____________________ Current Bike: Honda CG125 ES4 // Honda CB600FS Hornet // Triumph Street Triple R |

Don't believe all the doom mongers!
https://www.motomatrix.co.uk/
These people will sort you out pretty quick and they don't charge fortunes. Maybe you can use the absence of a red key to your advantage to get an even better deal if you big up the cost of the problem, it certainly wouldn't put me off buying it if that was the only issue.
You need to send them your ECU along with the transponder(which is located under the ignition switch) along with a black key and they will create you a new red key and black key, and it also disables any other keys there may be all for around £350 -which is an awful lot cheaper than a lock set and new ECU ____________________ Current bikes; MT01, XTZ1200 & 1981 XV750 which I've had from new, TRS300RR
Scorpa factory 300-still mine despite the fact that some thieving scumbag bastard currently has possession of it
