125CC doesn't have power!

Hello,

I have a JINLUN 125cc JL 125-11 which is a project.

I managed to get this started a few times so I know it starts and runs. This was a week ago so not long ago.

But today I tired to start it again and it looks like I get no power!! I have no horn either!

The bike doesn't have a kickstart... It only has a electric start/button.

When I push the start button, I get nothing, no sound from the starter coil either!

So, I checked the fuse and it was fine. it only has 1 main fuse I think.

Next I checked the battery and when I plugged it into my battery charger, the charger shows its almost full (1 bar less than full battery).


I tested some of the wirings using my needle voltage tester and they all seem to have some power running through them!

I'm actually confused as to whats causing this and why this has happened!

During my research online, I came across some information about the bike not being neutral hence not having any power so I made sure the bike is on neutral as well. I can spin the front sprocket forward and backward with my finger.


Can someone please shed a light on this?

What is the battery voltage reading (dc) and then using the negative / earth probe on the bike frame when fitted?
In other words is the battery connected to the bike?

There are usually cut out switches on the clutch and sidestand. Are they working correctly?

I'll make the assumption that the wiring is just like, with all due respect, any other piece of Chinese shite.

The horn wiring order will be something like:

Battery (red wire) Ignition (black wire) Horn Switch (yellow wire) Horn (green wire) frame/battery negative

Your colours may be different but the above is generally what the Chinese use. I would start tracing out from the battery and along the chain and see where the power stops.

Horn and clutch switch being on the same side I’d wonder whether there is a shared but broken earth on the left handlebar.

Any change when you have the stand up and the clutch pulled in?

Thanks everyone. I managed to start it again. The issue was as stupid as it sounds. There was a black earth wire that was pulled out of the ignition somehow.

But I still dont have a horn!

I will need to investigate this further and find out why the horn stopped working now.

I wonder if this is because of another wire getting pulled out somehow!!!
