People who choose to make their proposal of marriage extremely publicly (they so deserve to get a "err.. no!" in response)

Now I'm bored of waiting so lets see how a section 75 claim thingy goes.

Ah, today is the day that Mastercard make their decision and this morning I got a dispatch notification from DHL saying my new bicycle frame will be delivered tomorrow.

Agreed, but I think you'll find they're normally called "conductors"

This could be here or under 'oiled my gears'.

Extractor fan in the bathroom went bang this morning and took out the lights breaker. That's the 'grind' part. The 'oil' part is wifey was in there and shat herself.

It's a good thing she was sitting on the loo at the time. Laughing

I've got the headcold from hell.
And throat like a nest of razor wire.
Headache, sneezing, streaming eyes, runny nose, earache, : the full on experience.

I am not H.P.
But I have fresh lemons and whiskey, hoorah!

I think I shall take my laptop to bed and perve some more on that pert little Irish chap in Downton Abbey.

I'll see your head cold and raise you cellulitis Wink

I've had to cave and see the doc, now on a course of antibiotics. "Just walk it off" wasn't working Smile

Wife pissed off 1: I'm registered with a different GP and, outside of the Covid jabs, I've never bothered them. Call in the morning, diagnosed in the afternoon, prescription filled an hour later.*
Wife pissed off 2: Now resting my swollen leg like a 17th Century toff with gout so I miss out on tea duty and putting the decorations back in the loft. (Feeling better about spending my Christmas bonus on a Noble gaming chair.)
Wife pissed off 3: my calm stoicism despite obvious discomfort. "You don't seem very concerned by any of this." Would it help?

I even notified my work and they assumed I'd need a few days off to recover. I didn't bother correcting them. But for the searing pain I'd probably put this in the "oiled gears" thread.

*Wife's GP: lucky to ever book any sort of appointment. Prescriptions rarely filled on time.

How can one's nose feel so blocked and yet still be runny?

A combination sniff/snort/sneeze provided a large pink "furball" from the back of my sinuses including what looks like a piece of a minor blood vessel - ugh.

Shocked Perhaps I snorted half my sinuses out Shocked
I wouldn't mind so much but I'm not even a coke head - hate the stuff.

So I did a SinusRinse to see if more blood was present (fortunately not).
I also did a covid test which was negative.
So at least that's something.

The good news is your sinuses are one of the few parts of the body that can fully regenerate, starfish-style. (I think the other is your liver.)

You do know that it's the bollocks and not the penis that's removed?

My new fucking printer.

First time I have EVER bought a new printer.

HP laserjets have a good reputation for compatability and since I use linux, I went for one.

After a few niggles getting it set up, I had it working. Then it stopped working. Then it spat out a page saying I'd exhausted my setup pages and in order to use my printer I am now required to:

Connect it to the internet.

Download their app. (which does not work on linux)

Register an account with HP.

Agree to their terms and conditions. One of which is the printer will stop working if I ever use anything but an HP toner.

So now I have a printer which requires a constant internet connection to work so HP can monitor my useage and try to sell me toner. If I fit anything but an HP toner, it'll shut down.

It will also only print 32 pages at once, after which it shuts off and marks the job complete.

I am fucking raging!

I get 1500 pages per month worth of free toner for the first 6 months. I shit you not, I'm going to start printing black squares on the last day of each month until it stops. Then it's going in a skip.

Printers are that one bit of technology that seems to have actively gotten worse.

Thinking back to my first printer, which was an HP colour inkjet in about 1999, and comparing it to my current newish inkjet, there is no appreciable improvement in print quality, speed, noise, or physical size.

The ink doesn't last as long. You have to have some kind of app installed. It does have wifi, which could be a plus, but it also follows the standard IoT method of patching (throw it in the bin and buy a new one) so it sits on my untrusted network.

Most annoying thing is that the only time I tend to use it is when I need to print a label to return a parcel, because ebay doesn't make people say when they're using Evri.

I forgot to mention, the reason it can't be setup on linux is because the way it connects to the internet is so insecure, it bounces off the port security.
