Try using a sponge pad (as used with cleaning your dishes) because it will remove the rust without being abrasive, dampen the pad, apply some Autosol to the pad and finish off with Tesco's cheap dish cloths to buff it off and protect the surface of the disk's framework from rusting again so easily.

no it does not seem to be coming off when i ride it. The bike had been at the garage sitting for 3 weeks waiting for new stickers so i think this might have caused it. Can you get any chemicals to clean them up with ?

Pads/discs may have glazed over. I had a look at a bike this weekend with rusty disks.

Sorted disks with fine sandpaper (the grey wet and dry stuff). Remember to do the bit where the pads sit. Dropped the pads and gave a quick run over too (do it outside, don't breath the dust).

Finished off job with brake cleaner and the bike given a trip round the block to test. Came back with sparkling disks. Now bike just needs have the inner parts cleaned up.

HTH Thumbs Up
