Driveby .html file dowload?

My browser just downloaded an empty .html file to my downloads folder when I replied to a post. Firefox on debian linux. file name u9_HytcB.html

Odd thing to happen?

Download and run Malwarebytes as a precaution.

It's the sort of naming convention of a temporary cached file. Technically your browser is constantly doing GET operations against http servers and downloading files you just shouldn't see it. I'd put it down to a random browser error.

I've noticed an additional line cropping up at the bottom of some threads recently :-

have noticed a new message at the bottom of threads the last couple of days. i imagine its where adds should appear. it says-
