Hi guys, does anyone know about the dash lights on a Bmw??
I just brought this k75 from auction and it comes with no
paperwork(just the standard legal crap)
And theres this red light that comes on when the keys turned
and well, it just stays on.
Its above the neutral light and below the high beam light.
Surely its some sort of warning light???
Everything else on the bike seems to be working ok. Just this
bloody red light is giving me the creeps.
Thanks aye. cheers

It's probably an ABS warning light. If ever the battery dies then it comes on as the ABs has been disabled. You have to have it reset by a garage, costs around £15

Is it the one with the triangle on? if so it is the ABS. The battery needs to have a good voltage for tha ABS to turn on, around 12.3volts. If there isn't then the light will stay on telling you the ABS is not working(but it usually flashes).

Also on the newer BMW's the light might indicate that your brake bulb has blown.

Gidday mate, I just went and checked out whats happening.
And yep its the same as your photo (its got a triangle on it).
Lights still working so the globes ok.
When I turn on ignition key it comes on and stays on.
And the other abs light flashes until I hit the abs button.
Then it used to stop flashing and stay on.
I have recently noticed my battery light is staying on longer
then usual too.
So is my problem likely to be battery or brakes???
Thanks for ya help bro.
Cheers....

When you press the ABS button that is to turn the system off (the light stays on). When you ride off (without pressing the button) reaching 2-5mph the abs makes a clunky sound when it does a self test then the light should go off and stay off. But as I said above it needs the voltage to activate it. It might be worth putting the battery on charge for a few hours before you go for a spin to see if it gets the abs to work.

BUT you say the light stays on. That could be a faulty sensor or sensor ring or something more expensive Crying or Very sad . I would try the battery first as 9/10 times its that on my BM.

You may need to reset tha ABS first (as mentioned above), I am sure you can do it without going to a dealer. I will try to find how you do it and post it here later.

Have a look HERE.

*edit* Just been told by a very reliable source that...

if the light is on permenantly, its a brake light switch . Might also be worth checking. Question

Possible winner for the “oldest thread revival” award?
